Swinford Drama Group
Swinford Drama will be putting on their production of “The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley” by Jimmy Keary in Meelick Community Centre on the weekend of 12th and 13th May. A tale of an almost confirmed bachelor with two suitors vying for his attention. The hapless Gabriel has important issues to decide!
ANNOUNCEMENT – ROAD CLOSURE:
With filming of a documentary taking place in the Courthouse from Wednesday 10th to Friday 12th the area surrounding the courthouse and Davitt Place will be closed to traffic between 8am and 8pm on the three days.
There will be access to the carpark at the rear of Melletts from the Riverside/Kilkelly Road side of town.
Hopefully inconvenience will be kept to a minimum. Thank you for your co-operation.

VTOS Swinford in partnership with Mayo North East are hosting an Open Day for unemployed adults who are interested in returning to education and training.
Take the first step, come along, check out the courses you can take, get information on training grants, travel allowances, childcare support available etc. Representatives from relevant service providers will be in attendance to answer all your questions. Official launch by Swinford’s own Hardy Bucks at 11.30 am.

Are you interested in becoming a Scout Leader?
Swinford Mayo 24 Scouts are looking to recruit additional leaders for September 2017. If you enjoy working as part of a team, taking part in outdoor/ indoor activities and have an hour to spare each week Swinford Scouts would love to hear from you. Full training will be provided.
A public meeting will be held on Monday May 15th in the meeting room of The Cultural Centre at 8pm. County Commissioner Tadgh Kennedy along with current leaders of Swinford Scouts will be in attendance to answer any queries. All welcome.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw
Last week’s draw was held in Franks Place where Kieran O’Donnell of Swinford & London won €659. Envelopes are available in most business premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/25/52 weeks. Next draw is in The Whitehouse on May 16. Draw envelopes are available at €3 and €5.
Swinford Athletic Club
The 50/50 draw was held after training at the Amenity Park and congratulations to Geraldine Sheerin, Killasser who won this weeks jackpot of €203.
Draws will be held every Tuesday, where one lucky person will take half the jackpot home. Tickets are for sale from all club officers and cost €2 for one ticket and 3 for €5. All income from the draw will be used for the future development of facilities at the club

Killasser Community Centre 50/50
The winner of the Killasser Community Centre April Draw, which took place in Frank’s Place on Sunday 30th April 2017, was Simon Igoe who received €627.50. Well done to Simon! Yvonne Moore received a €20 cash prize from the 50/50 draw. The May 50/50 Draw will take place in Frank’s Place on Sunday 4th June 2017. The 2017 Killasser Parish League will take place on Sunday 4th June at 4pm. Girls and boys aged between 8 and 13 years are invited to play. The winning team will receive the Kevin Groarke Perpetual Cup.

Swinford NS Green school committee are holding a “Cash for Clobber”, if you have any unwanted clean items of clothing, footwear, bed linen or towels they can be dropped off at the school (in a tied bag) during school hours on Thursday, May 11 and Friday May 12.
Swinford Gardening Club Trip
Swinford Gardening Club and Swinford Social Services are organising a trip to Carlow and Kilkenny, staying at the Mount Wolseley Hotel from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th June. Among the many attractions are Kilkenny Castle, Altamount Gardens and the Chocolate Garden Workshop. Swinford Cycling & Triathlon Club
Swinford Cycling and Triathlon Clubs are continuing their Club Training Time Trials each Tuesday evening at 7pm – All are welcome – all you need is a bike + helmet + €2 (you can have a few goes as a guest before you need to join) and you can participate either on own or with friends where you time yourself over 15km.
