Who are Console?
Console was established in 2002 by families who had experienced the grief of losing a loved one by suicide. Through this loss, they recognised the need for dedicated suicide prevention, intervention and postvention services in Ireland.
Since then Console has developed into a national organisation providing a comprehensive range of supports, services and resources for anyone affected by suicide, at risk of suicide, or supporting others around them.
Console operates nationwide services with centres in many counties and in 2012 Console opened it’s Mayo Centre, at “Whitethorn Cottage” Midfield, Swinford and the following October extended it’s service into The Family Resource Centre in Ballina, Co.Mayo. An outreach is also available from le Cheile FRC in Castlebar on a needs basis.
How We Work:
The principles of dignity, compassion and respect underpin all of our work at Console. All services are delivered in a safe, appropriate and professional manner with a view to supporting others in the most helpful way possible.
Console aims to meet the needs of those who come to us for support. Some people require advice, guidance or information. Others may need a listening ear, in person , or on the phone. Some need the support of face-to-face counselling. Whatever the need, contact the Console helpline, or nearest console Centre to discuss how best we can help.
