Mellett’s Emporium is steeped in 221 years of history. Although there have been many changes to the business since it first opened i.e. you can no longer purchase groceries, arrange your funeral or book your boat to America, the pub still retains its original character and the current manager and 7th generation Marie Mellett is of the opinion that with a bit of luck, it can survive for another 221 years.
Mellett’s Newsagency & Lotto Agent is located next door to the pub and is the only shop in Swinford that is now selling Historical Framed Photographs of Swinford for only €9.95.
