 Social Dancing and Dance Classses

Social dancing and dance classes take place every Sunday night in Bohola Community Centre from 8pm to 10pm. Beginners are welcome. Jive, Waltz, quick step andmore. Learning for the first hour following by a dance afterwards.  Contact Frank on 087 9809432.

 Camino for Hospice

Mayo Roscommon Hospice have orgnaised an information evening on the Camino Walk in Bosh Bar Castlebar (upstairs) on Wednesday April 12th at 8.45pm.  Contact 094 9388666 for more information.

 Aras Attracta 25 Drive

Swinford Macra na Feirme

Swinford Macra Na Feirme would like to thank all the new members who came along to their first meeting last Friday 31st March. Great to see a mixture of girls and lads and so eager to take up club officer roles!! Exciting times for Swinford ahead.  Registration will take place again next Friday 7th April at 9pm in Melletts. A production team will be filming a docudrama in Swinford Courthouse on the 10/11/12 May  and are looking for extras to appear in a court scene. This is paid work.

Action on Dementia in Mayo

Community Action on Dementia in Mayo is looking for volunteers to spend quality time with people diagnosed with dementia, helping them live as independently as possible and maintain activities and hobbies they enjoy.   Anybody who has a spare hour, and would like to help should contact Community Action on Dementia in Mayo on 086 836 6312 or email  eac.dementia-mayo@gmail.com  Appropriate training and mentoring is provided.

 Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This week’s 50/50 draw held in Quinns was worth €711 and was won by Boland Family, Bridge Street.

The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Sheepwalk on Tuesday 11th April.

Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

Swinford Athletic Club

The  50/50 draw was held after training at the Amenity Park and was worth €201 to the winner Emma Lavin, Kilbride, Swinford.

Draws will be held every Tuesday, where one lucky person will take half the jackpot home. Tickets are for sale from all club officers and cost €2 for one ticket and 3 for €5. All income from the draw will be used for the future development of facilities at the club

Little Athletics

Little Athletics will return on Tuesday April 4th at 7pm on the Amenity Pitch. It will be on the sand based area to the left of the club house. Parents must escort their children to the area, sign them in and are asked to collect directly after training and sign them out again.
Registration for little Athletics takes place on Sunday, April 2nd between 12-1pm at the clubhouse. If you are unable to make this, registration can also be done AFTER the Tuesday training session.
Little Athletics is only open to children from Junior Infants to Second Class.
It will be compulsory for all parents to assist at training on a rota basis this year. You will receive details of this at registration.
Looking forward to welcoming back all our little athletes.

Fundraise for Oesophageal Fund Ireland 8th of April.

80’s Disco

We will be starting off with a family fun walk. This will be take off at the amenity pitch continuing on round the golf course and then around the park and back to the amenity pitch for tea and coffee.
Then later on that night we will be heading to the Gateway Hotel for an 80s disco. Spot prizes and €100 for the best fancy dressed will be awarded on the night.
Anyone interested will be able to buy tickets from local businesses in Swinford and from the Naoinra Montessori in Swinford primary school.
Tickets will cost €10 for adults and €5 for students. Also entry fee will be accepted on the night.

An Evening with Brendan Grace

Brendan Grace is a well known Irish comedian and singer who is celebrating 40 years in the entertainment business. He is known for his comedy schoolboy character “Bottler”, and also for his appearance in the sitcom “Fr. Ted” as Fr. Fintan Stack.

Great Irish Bake for Temple Street Children’s hospital

A cake sale in aid of Temple Street Childrens Hospital will take place in Tesco Swinford next Friday 7th April. This is the 3rd year of this event which has been very successful. Once again we are asking for the help and support of the local community to make this another successful year. Thanks to the generosity of the local people almost €15000 has been raised to date in Swinford which has been used to buy equipment for the hospital.

Temple Street Children’s Tea Party

The Gateway Hotel are hosting a Tea Party in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital in the newly refurbished lounge ‘The Front’ this Friday 7th April from 11am to 4pm.
Come along and enjoy a Tea, Coffee and Cake with All Proceeds going to this very worthy cause.
Their will be some great local entertainment on show during the Tea Party

Swinford Gardening Club Trip

Swinford Gardening Club and Swinford Social Services are organising a trip to Carlow and Kilkenny, staying at the Mount Wolseley Hotel from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th June. Among the many attractions are Kilkenny Castle, Altamount Gardens and the Chocolate Garden Workshop. Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw

 Governance Training For Community Groups

Mayo North East will hold a free Governance training workshop in the Newman Institute in Ballina on Tuesday evening April 11th 2017 from 7pm – 10pm. The training is for Type B community groups. The role of these groups is primarily governance but with some management and operational responsibilities also. They employ one or more full time or part time staff member. This training is funded under the Social Inclusion & Community Activation Programme (SICAP) and will be delivered by the Carmichael Centre.   Places are limited, to reserve a place contact Patricia Crawley on 087 2135960 or email patriciacrawley@mayonortheast.com

Swinford Camera Club next meeting is on Wednesday the 5th of April. As always new members are very welcome to join the club. Swinford Camera Club is a friendly, helpful and very welcoming group. We meet every 1st & 3rd Wednesday evening at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel. If you are interested in photography, why not come along to a meeting?

Swinford Tidy Towns

The 2017 Good Friday Spring clean will take place on the 14th of April this this year. The annual Swinford Tidy Towns national spring clean begins as usual at 11 am meeting at the “No Name Club” on Chapel Street. We get a great turnout on the day but would always love to see more! If you have an hour to spare, why not come along? Tabard’s, gloves, litter picker’s, rubbish and recycling bags will be provided by the National Spring Clean campaign and Swinford Tidy Towns on the day.
