Swinford Community Games
Swinford Community Games will take place in the Amenity Park on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May starting at 2pm. All children under 16 years and living in the Swinford area are encouraged to come along and take part.
The swimming events for the Swinford Community Games takes place in Castlebar pool on Thursday 9th April. Registration is at 8:45am and cost is €5. Training for the swimming will be held in Breaffy Leisure Centre tonight (Wednesday 8th April) at 6pm. Training also costs €5.

The Mayo Athletics finals will be held on Sunday 21st June in Claremorris.
Fashion Show Fundraiser
A fashion show will be held in the Gateway Hotel at 8:30pm on Friday 10th April. All proceeds raised going towards the construction of a Youth Memorial Garden to honour the younger members of the community who have passed away.
Tickets €10 now on sale and there are only a limited number of seats available. Please contact Mary Woodlock, Connie Gillespie, Deirdre Fahey, Kevin Moran or the Gateway Hotel for further details or to purchase your tickets.

Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw
Congratulations to Hannah Dunleavey, the first winner of the Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Monthly Draw.
She won €1217.50 in the inaugural draw which was held in Frank’s Place on Sunday 5th April.

Swinford Drama Group Production
The members of Swinford Drama Group will be staging two one-act plays in Swinford Cultural Centre on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April. Currently two different groups of local amateur actors and actresses are busy rehearsing under the guidance of director Pat Moore.
“What’s For Pudding” by David Tristram and “Double Take” by Clement Shevlin are both comedies and you are guaranteed a great night’s entertainment.
Doors open at 7.15pm and first play begins at 8.00pm.
Everybody is welcome to attend for what will be an enjoyable and funny production. Please do come along and support the shows during its run.
Midfield Development Association
Midfield Development Association will hold their next meeting on Monday 13th April at 9pm in Midfield National School. Everyone is welcomed to attend.
Swinford Men’s Shed
Swinford Men’s Shed will be meeting at 8pm on Thursday 16th April in the Community Centre. With the summer months approaching the group are aiming to start some new projects. New members are always welcome.

Well Done Aishling
Swinford sprinter Aishling Forkan has recorded further success at the All Ireland Indoor Championship in Athlone International Arena.
Aishling took gold in the U18 200m final and for the second time in a week smashed an Irish record on the track. Aishling’s winning time of 24.18 seconds was not only a new Irish record knocking half a second off the previous record but it was also comfortably within the qualification standard for the European Junior Championships which will be held in Sweden in July.
Aishling now holds the U18 60m and 200m Irish indoor records.

Defibrillators Locations
Defibrillators are located twenty four hours a day in the lobby of the Gateway Hotel, on wall of Dr. Glavey’s surgery, in the club house at Swinford GAA and at Midfield and Meelick church.
Important notice: The defibrillator located in Midfield is currently out of service and arrangements are being made to have the relevant parts replaced but this may take up to two weeks.
Please make yourself aware of these locations as they can save a life.
Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw
This week’s draw was worth €883 and was won by Gordon Carter of Market Street but currently living in Canada.
Gordon purchased his ticket online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/20/52 weeks. The next draw will take place in Julian’s on Tuesday 14th April.
Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Swinford Mayo 24 Scouts is currently looking to recruit new leaders for September 2015. If you are able to give an hour per week and you are interested in learning new skills along with sharing your own skills and life experiences, then Swinford Scouts are looking to hear from you.

Riverbank Clean Up
A very successful clean up was held on Sunday 29th March on the riverbanks of the East Mayo Anglers stretch of the river Moy. Over 20 bags of rubbish were picked up. The organisers would like to thank all who came out to help. All your hard work is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to Gary Smyth who organised a barbeque for the volunteers after the clean up.
The Great Cake Bake For Temple Street
A cake sale will take place in Tesco Swinford on Friday 17th April. All proceeds in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
If you are a baker and would you like to donate some items for this great cause, it would be very much appreciated. Items for the sale can be left into Tesco by Thursday 16th April. Please come along and support.
