Plans underway for Youth Memorial Garden in Swinford
A new Youth Memorial Garden to be built in Swinford
Plans for the construction of a Youth Memorial Garden to honour those younger members of the community who have sadly passed away through the years are underway with the aim to have work started in the next couple of months.
Almost everyone in Swinford and its surrounding areas has lost either a friend or a relative at a young age and knows the impact that it has. Unfortunately it has been a sad reality of life especially in recent years but it is also intended to be place to remember those loved ones lost in any decade.
The aim of the Youth Memorial Garden is to provide a place of reflection, and for it to become a place of beauty in the town where people can meet friends and have a chat or just sit in peace outside. It is hoped that it can be a place for everyone and anyone who wishes can do their bit in the development of the garden whether it’s construction, fundraising or contributing ideas.
Plans of what the garden will consist are still being finalised but there will be an open meeting for all members of the community to provide ideas and give their thoughts on what will go into the project in the near future.
There will also be a number of fundraising events in the coming months and details of the first event will be on Swinford.ie shortly.
