2017 Daffodil Day
Daffodil Day this years total raised on 24th March was €8057 a hugh thank you to everyone who gave so generously on the day. To all the volunteers who gave their time and energy well done for your commitment this year and in the past to this worthly cause.
Swinford Macra na Feirme
Registration for new Swinford Macra na Feirme club takes place on Friday 31st March at 9pm in Melletts Swinford. Social organisation for 17-35 year olds including sports, agriculture, travel, social nights, drama and lots more fun. Everyone welcome! For more information contact Ciara 087 1888082.

This week’s 50/50 draw held in Moores was worth €627 and was won by Joanne Towey of Goodfellas barbers.
The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Quinns on Tuesday 4th April.
Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

The first 50/50 draw was held after training at the Amenity Park and was worth €290 to the winner Margaret Campbell of Killaturley, Swinford.
Draws will be held every Tuesday, where one lucky person will take half the jackpot home. Tickets are for sale from all club officers and cost €2 for one ticket and 3 for €5. All income from the draw will be used for the future development of facilities at the club

Little Athletics:
Little Athletics will return on Tuesday April 4th at 7pm on the Amenity Pitch. It will be on the sand based area to the left of the club house. Parents must escort their children to the area, sign them in and are asked to collect directly after training and sign them out again.
Registration for little Athletics takes place on Sunday, April 2nd between 12-1pm at the clubhouse. If you are unable to make this, registration can also be done AFTER the Tuesday training session.
Little Athletics is only open to children from Junior Infants to Second Class.
It will be compulsory for all parents to assist at training on a rota basis this year. You will receive details of this at registration.

Fundraise for Oesophageal Fund Ireland 8th of April.
We will be starting off with a family fun walk. This will be take off at the amenity pitch continuing on round the golf course and then around the park and back to the amenity pitch for tea and coffee.
Then later on that night we will be heading to the Gateway Hotel for an 80s disco. Spot prizes and €100 for the best fancy dressed will be awarded on the night.
Anyone interested will be able to buy tickets from local businesses in Swinford and from the Naoinra Montessori in Swinford primary school.
Tickets will cost €10 for adults and €5 for students. Also entry fee will be accepted on the night.

An Evening with Brendan Grace
Swinford Cultural Centre is delighted to announce.

Brendan Grace is a well known Irish comedian and singer who is celebrating 40 years in the entertainment business. He is known for his comedy schoolboy character “Bottler”, and also for his appearance in the sitcom “Fr. Ted” as Fr. Fintan Stack.

Great Irish Bake for Temple Street Children’s hospital
A cake sale in aid of Temple Street Childrens Hospital will take place in Tesco Swinford next Friday 7th April. This is the 3rd year of this event which has been very successful. Once again we are asking for the help and support of the local community to make this another successful year. Thanks to the generosity of the local people almost €15000 has been raised to date in Swinford which has been used to buy equipment for the hospital.

Visit of Sean McDermotts GAA Club Birmingham
To celebrate 60 years since their formation the Sean McDermotts GAA Club are bringing their Under 14 and Under 16 boys teams to Swinford over the weekend of 31st March/2nd April. The Under 14 will take part in a 5 team tournament on the Saturday from 11am and the Under 16 team will play Swinford in a challenge game that afternoon.

Mayo North East
Governance Training.
Mayo North East will hold a free Governance training workshop in the Newman Institute in Ballina on Tuesday evening April 11th 2017 from 7pm – 10pm. The training is for Type B community groups. The role of these groups is primarily governance but with some management and operational responsibilities also. They employ one or more full time or part time staff member. This training is funded under the Social Inclusion & Community Activation Programme (SICAP) and will be delivered by the Carmichael Centre. The 2017 Good Friday Spring clean will take place on the 14th of April this this year. The annual Swinford Tidy Towns national spring clean begins as usual at 11 am meeting at the “No Name Club” on Chapel Street. We get a great turnout on the day but would always love to see more! If you have an hour to spare, why not come along?
