As we are over half way through February and looking forward to St Patricks Day and further on to Easter I have put together a list of events coming up: These are in addition to the weekly traditional music session held by Swinford Comhaltas and the regular live music and social dancing in the local hotel and bars and Swinford Cultural Centre.

Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC Dinner Dance
Our Annual Club Dinner Dance will take place on Friday February 24th in Julians of Midfield. Presentation of medals to our Double winning Minors and U16s will take place at the Dinner Dance, as will our usual All Star teams and Players of the Year awards. Tickets go on sale this Friday and we hope to see another huge crowd to celebrate the great achievements of all of our teams in 2016

Inter-Provincial boxing makes its long awaited return to Swinford next weekend as the Connacht Ladies Team welcome Leinster for a clash at the Cultural Centre.
Come out and support the Connacht ladies as they take on the might of Leinster on Sunday next 26th February in the Cultural Centre. Both teams will feature multiple Irish champions and the Connacht side our Swinford ladies also.

Delighted to announce that the talented Tommy Stenson Sean Nos Dancer will be providing the entertainment for our next market on Sat 4th March………our market coincides with Seachtain na Gaeilge so this will play a part in the entertainment along with some singing from more local talent.
With displays taking place from 11am at the Cultural Centre, then a FREE beginners workshop taking place from 12noon – it will be a great day out for all the family…….

For the 67 year running Swinford St Patricks Day Parade will begin at 3pm from Tesco and make its way around the town. This will be followed by the Aclare parade and on Saturday 18th the Foxford St Patricks Parade. Charlestown parade is at 1pm on Friday 17th.

Following up on the very successful New Years Day Fun Run, which raised over €2000 for Crumlin Childrens Hospital, the girls are this time teaming up with CROI (West of Ireland Heart & Stroke Foundation). So, polish up those tractors; whether Big, Small, New, Ancient or whatever and show your support on the 26th in The Swinford Tractor & Vintage Run
Weekend of 31st March-2nd April
Sean McDermotts GAA Birmingham
We are happy to announce that the Under 14 and Under 16 teams from Sean McDermotts Club in Birmingham will be coming to Swinford on the weekend of 31st March/2nd April. This is part of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Sean McDermotts GAA. On Saturday 1st April we will be hosting a Under 14 tournament between Swinford, Sean McDermotts, Ballyhaunis and Parke Kilcommin. Following this the Swinford Under 16 team will play Sean McDermotts Under 16’s.
Saturday 8th April
Fundraise for Oesophageal Fund Ireland will take place on the 8th of April.
We will be starting off with a family fun walk. This will be take off at the amenity pitch continuing on round the golf course and then around the park and back to the amenity pitch for tea and coffee.
Then later on that night we will be heading to the Gateway Hotel for an 80s disco. Spot prizes and €100 for the best fancy dressed will be awarded on the night.
Anyone interested will be able to buy tickets from local businesses in Swinford and from the Naoinra Montessori in Swinford primary school.
Tickets will cost €10 for adults and €5 for students. Also entry fee will be accepted on the night.

On Good Friday Swinford Tidy towns will have their annual tidy towns clean up and on Easter Sunday they will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the woods at Swinford playground.

80’s Night with local DJ upstairs in Melletts in aid of Swinford Athletic Club with raffle. Tickets €10.
