Thousands to be won in Local Shopping:

Swinford Christmas Festival will run from 1st – 9th December. Plenty of events and thousands to be won in local shopping vouchers for all participating businesses. Official Festival launch will take place this Thursday (30th) at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel.

 

Healthcare Support Training

Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company is organising a free Healthcare Support Training Course in Swinford for unemployed people or people in part-time employment who are interested in pursuing a career as a care assistant. On successful completion of the course learners will have gained a Healthcare Support QQI Level 5 Major award. Garda Vetting must be successfully completed. Training will commence one day per week in January 2018 and conclude in July 2018. Latest date for receipt of application is Friday 8th of December. Swinford Active Retirement Christmas Party

Swinford Active Retirement group in conjunction with Swinford Social Services are taking names from people interested in attending a Christmas Party in the Fr. Peyton Centre on Tuesday December 19th. Cost per person is €12 and transport to and from Swinford will be provided free of charge. If interested contact Mary at 094 9252511.

 

Christmas Market 2017

Swinford indoor country market is holding its Christmas market this weekend. It will run over 2 days, Saturday December 2nd from 9.30am-2pm and Sunday December 3rd from 10.30am-3pm, in Swinford Cultural centre.
The monthly market is proud to regularly boast a wide range of locally sourced produce and the Christmas market will be no exception. There will be a fabulous range of breads, cakes, plants, vegetables, photography and a huge range of crafts which make ideal presents. You can relax and have lunch in the railway cafe after your shopping.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This week’s draw was held in Julians and Mikey and Rowan Durkan won €462. Envelopes are available in most business premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/25/52 weeks.

Swinford GAA Dinner Dance
Swinford GAA Celebrates the 20th Anniversary 1997 Minor Champions. We will remember one of the Clubs finest achievements when we celebrate the 1997 County Minor Champions.
This promises to be a great club event and all members, players and coaches and families are invited to support.
Dinner Dance will take place on 9th December at 7.30pm in the Gateway Hotel.
Tickets €25 and are available in the hotel or through the club.

25 Card Drive in Aid of Mayo Fleadh 2018

A Monster 25 Card Drive with a prize fund of €1,000 will take place in the Brown Memorial Hall, Foxford on Tuesday 12th December at 8:30pm. Massive Christmas Raffle on the night with great prizes. This is a fundraiser for the Mayo Fleadh which will take place in Foxford, in May 2018. Admission €10. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers Tutors needed to tutor over 55’s on computers/tablets/smartphones to help learners navigate the Internet and gain confidence using their device

Age Action runs courses (each course lasts for 5 weeks, 2 hours per week) in the Swinford Library, on Wednesdays from 10.00 and 12.00. Classes are generally run on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis and both tutors and learners find the classes rewarding and fun. Good computer skills and fluent English needed but patience and good humour just as important! We’re looking for interested tutors for the new cycle starting in September. Coolegrane Lights

Kevin Hughes, Coolegrane, Foxford will once again be erecting his colourful display of Christmas lighting at his home. The Coolegrane Lights are now known to be one of the largest and most colourful display of Christmas lights in the country. The lights will be switched on at 7pm on Friday December 8th by world famous singer Annette Griffin. Music by Pat’s Country Road Show, light refreshments and much more. Everyone is welcome to the switch on. As usual a donation box will be placed at the gateway and Kevin has decided to donate all proceeds to Ballina District Hospital Patient Comfort Fund.
