Swinford Agricultural Show Fundraising Function
A fundraising function for the Swinford Agricultural Show will be held on Friday 7th August in The White House. Music by Padraic McNeela.

Willie O’Neill Tournament
The annual Willie O’Neill tournament will be held on Sunday 9th August in the Killasser Pitch with kick off at 3pm for the semi-finals x 2. A youth match will follow at 4pm and the final will be played at 4:30pm.
Raffle tickets on sale on the day with proceeds in aid of pitch improvements and the shop will be open in the Community Centre.
The presentation of prizes will be held in Frank’s Place at 6pm followed by a video of the tournament and music. At 10pm the Killasser Monthly 50/50 Draw will take place along with complimentary spot prizes.
All welcome to what promises to be a very enjoyable afternoon and evening.
Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw
The next Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw will be held at 10pm in Frank’s Place on Sunday 9th August.
€5 per entry and guaranteed winner every month!

Book Sale Fundraiser
A book sale will take place in Tesco, Swinford on Saturday 8th August in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
If you have any unwanted books, can you please drop them into the store.
The sale will be held as part of the ‘Lemonade and Lollipops’ fundraiser day.
Church Gate Collection
The annual Church Gate Collection in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Palliative Care Services will be held on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August.
All donations gratefully appreciated and the foundation would like to thank its loyal collectors who continue to help out each year.
Swinford Agricultural Show
The 27th Swinford Agricultural Show will be held on Saturday 15th August at the Heeran Farm, Kiltimagh Road, Swinford.
Entries are now being taken for all sections and show schedules are now available. If you have never entered an item in the show before, now is your chance.
Pick up a schedule of classes at their office in the Swinford National School which will open
Monday 10th, Tues 11th, Wed 12th August from 11am to 5pm
Thursday 13th August from 11am to 7pm
Friday 14th August from 11am to 2pm
Closing date for entries is 2pm on Friday 14th August

Swinford & District Gardening Club Trips
Swinford Gardening Club outings are always enjoyable and an ideal way to visit new and exciting places and their three day tour of Wicklow and Kildare will be leaving Swinford on Monday 10th August.
The Osprey Hotel, Naas will be the base for the tour with visits to Belvedere House & Gardens, Newbridge Silver Museum, Newbridge Shopping Centre, Glendalough, Russborough House & Gardens, Blessington Lakes, Fern Hill Garden Centre and a guided tour of Curragh Military Barracks & Museum.
Cost of tour: €240 pp sharing, single supplement €60.
Non-members welcome.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw
This week’s 50/50 draw was worth €962 and was won by Frank McHale of Park Road, Swinford.
The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Campbell’s Lounge on Tuesday 11th August.
Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

Swinford Clean Street League
This years Swinford Clean Street League is now in under way. Due to the poor weather earlier in the year, our Independent Adjudicators decided to delay the judging of the Clean Street League. Judging will now take place over the months of July, August and September.
There will again be two categories in the Clean Street League, Streets & Estates and the four categories that the streets & estates will be judged on are as follows:
• Litter Control
• Planting / Flowers
• Presentation
• Overall Impression

Swinford Tidy Towns Flower Planters
Swinford Tidy Towns recently installed flower planters at various locations in the town. We would ask local residents to help us out & adopt a planter to look after.
We will be making more planters in the future for other locations around the town. Please get in contact with Swinford Tidy Towns if you know of a suitable location.
