“Celebration Of Light” in Swinford Parish Church

On the 29th of November the Console Mayo “Celebration of Light” will be held at 4 o’clock.  This will be an afternoon of music, song and readings in candlelight with a minute’s silence observed so that all present can reflect and remember loved ones who have died from suicide.  A Rememberance Table will be set up and anyone who wishes to place a photo of their loved one on it is more than welcome to do so.

 

Drama Group Meeting

Swinford Drama Group will hold its annual general meeting in Melletts in the upstairs meeting room this Thursday November 5th at 8 o’clock.

All new members welcome.

 

Friends of the Willows

Friends of the Willows would like to thank the people of Swinford for their generous donations during their recent churchgate collections.  Funds raised will help improve the lives of those with mental health issues in our local area.

 

Canine Club

Mayo & District Canine Club will be having training classes for pet dog owners this Friday November 6th.  The classes will be held in the Cultural Centre from 6.30 to 8.30pm. There will be puppy socialising, basic obedience, agility and some fun.

All are welcome.

 

Relaxation

Heartfullness Relaxation & Meditation will be held on Monday  November 9th from 7pm in the Swinford Library.  The class is free and is open to everyone over the age of 16.

Interview Skills Training Workshop

This one day workshop is taking place in Swinford on Thursday November 26th.  The course aims to provide the key skills necessary to excel in future interviews.

The course is free to unemployed people so places are limited and early booking is advised.

Introduction to Computers & Career Planning

A free beginners computer training course for unemployed people will be held in the Swinford Library on Monday 23rd November from 10am to 1pm.  The course will run one day per week for four weeks.

Early booking is advised.

Indoor Country Market

The Swinford Indoor Country Market will be held this Saturday November 7th from 9.30am to 2pm in the Cultural Centre.

“In stitches” Wool & Craft shop are running a workshop for all children (boys & girls) aged 6 and over.  The railway Cafe will be serving tasty treats and its an excuse to sit and enjoy the live music on offer.

There is a busy day planned for the whole family and we hope to see you there.

 

Vodafone Swinford

Swinford GAA have entered into an arrangement with the Vodafone shop on Market Street. You will earn points on certain transactions which will turn into sponsorship for the club when we reach 700 points.

When you are shopping within the store please mention Swinford GAA when you are paying.

 

Golf

Despite the recent rainfall many golfers are still taking to the fairways every day.  At this time of year, club members are preparing for the annual general meetings.

The dates are:

Ladies AGM  on Friday November 13th at 8 o’clock

Mens AGM on Friday November 20th at 8 o’clock

Management AGM on Friday November 27th at 9 o’clock

The final prizes of the year will be presented on Saturday December 5th in the Gateway Hotel, time will be advised at a later date.

Swinford GAA enjoyed a good win in the championship at home last Saturday evening beating Erris St Pats by 2-15 to 2-9.  Swinford are now into the quarter finals in the next few weeks.

This weeks draw for Swinford GAA 50/50 draw was held in Melletts on the 3rd of November and Carol Gill of Enfield,  Middlesex won €743.oo.  Carol bought her ticket online through swinfordgaa.ie

Envelopes are available in most business  premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 25 & 52 weeks.

Next draw in Moores on the 10th of November.  Draw envelopes are now also available at 3 for €5.
