Despite the weather the 66th running of the Swinford St Patrick’s Day parade was a great success and credit to the organising committee, the stewards, Padraig Gavin and all on the viewing gallery and to all the bands, clubs, schools and businesses who took part. The results are as following:

Swinford Macra na Feirme
Registration for new Swinford Macra na Feirme club takes place on Friday 31st March at 9pm in Melletts Swinford. Social organisation for 17-35 year olds including sports, agriculture, travel, social nights, drama and lots more fun. Everyone welcome! For more information contact Ciara 087 1888082.
Scoil Muire agus Padraig Variety Show
On the 24th march Scoil Muire Agus Páidraig TYs are hosting the Spotlight Variety Show featuring acts from all years in the school showcasing their enormous talent through music, song, dance and gymnastic displays. The show will commence at 8pm and tickets are Adults €10 Students/Children/OAP €5. Come along to support and enjoy what promises to be a great nights entertainment.
Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw
This week’s 50/50 draw was worth €986 and was won by Kevin Crawley of Tourlestrane, County Sligo and formerly of Park Road, Swinford.
The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Moore’s on Tuesday 28th March.
Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

Swinford A.C. launched their new 50/50 lotto draw in Mellett’s Emporium on Thursday, March 16th. The first draw will take place after club training next Tuesday evening, March 28th, and every subsequent Tuesday, where one lucky person will take half the jackpot home. Tickets are for sale from all club officers and cost €2 for one ticket and 3 for €5. All income from the draw will be used for the future development of facilities at the club

Swinford Cultural Centre is delighted to announce.
“An Evening with Brendan Grace”

Brendan Grace is a well known Irish comedian and singer who is celebrating 40 years in the entertainment business. He is known for his comedy schoolboy character “Bottler”, and also for his appearance in the sitcom “Fr. Ted” as Fr. Fintan Stack.

Swinford Killasser Ladies Gaelic Football
Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC in conjunction with Croi are hosting The Inaugural Swinford Tractor & Vintage Tractor Run on Mothers Day. Croí has been to the fore in the fight against Heart Disease & Stroke in the west of Ireland since 1985. Since then, the Foundation has worked tirelessly, with the aim of reducing the impact of heart disease & stroke on families in the west. The Run starts from Swinford Amenity Park at 1pm this Sunday, with Registration from 11.30am. Please Support
Mayo play Sligo in a double header on Friday next, March 31st in the Amenity Park. The U14 teams play at 5.30pm and the Minors will be in action at 7pm. Swinford players should feature on both Mayo teams. Please support.
Great Irish Bake for Temple Street Children’s hospital
A cake sale in aid of Temple Street Childrens Hospital will take place in Tesco Swinford on Friday 7th April. This is the 3rd year of this event which has been very successful. Once again we are asking for the help and support of the local community to make this another successful year. Thanks to the generosity of the local people almost €15000 has been raised to date in Swinford which has been used to buy equipment for the hospital.

Visit of Sean McDermotts GAA Club Birmingham
To celebrate 60 years since their formation the Sean McDermotts GAA Club are bringing their Under 14 and Under 16 boys teams to Swinford over the weekend of 31st March/2nd April. The Under 14 will take part in a 4 team tournament on the Saturday and the Under 16 team will play Swinford in a challenge game that afternoon.

The next meeting of Swinford & District Gardening Club will be held on Tuesday 28th March at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel. Horticulturist Paul Kirwan will speak on growing your own fruit and vegetables and spring in the garden. All are welcome to attend. Non members €5.
Trip
Swinford Gardening Club and Swinford Social Services are organising a trip to Carlow and Kilkenny, staying at the Mount Wolseley Hotel from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th June. Among the many attractions are Kilkenny Castle, Altamount Gardens and the Chocolate Garden Workshop.
