Cycling Promotion Day

Swinford Cycling Club are hosting a cycle promotion day on Sunday 22nd February in the Amenity Park, Swinford at 10:30am.

This event is free and open to all levels of cyclist, but beginners are especially welcomed. It is planned to conduct presentations on club activities, bike repairs, tips on purchasing your bike, bike fittings, clothing and road safety. Following the presentations, there will be a short cycle for all bike riders to enjoy. There is no obligation on anyone to participate in this cycle but in order to experience the merits and enjoyment of group cycling, it is hoped that most people will join in. If you do intend to cycle, the organisers ask that you would ensure your bike is in proper working order and that you are in possession of a cycling helmet.

Swinford Camera Club

Swinford Camera Club hold meetings every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 8 pm in the National School, Swinford. See Swinford.ie for more details

Swinford Camera Club meetings have resumed for 2015. The next meeting is being held tonight (Wednesday 18th February) at 8pm in Swinford National School.

New members are always welcome, especially beginners. Meetings are held every 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Killaturley Water Notice

Killaturley Water Co-operative Society Ltd would like to inform its members that a major cleaning of its pipe network in all areas will commence on Monday 23rd February and will finish on Friday 20th March.

Slight discolouration of water along with temporary interruption to supply may occur during this process. The Society apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Operation Transformation Swinford

Operation Transformation Swinford will be holding a 5K Walk / Jog / Run on Saturday 21st February. Registration takes place at the Swinford GAA Clubhouse from 11:15am and the cost is €3 per Adult and €2 for under 18’s.

The 5K Walk / Jog / Run will start at 12 noon with refreshments and spot prizes afterwards in the Gateway Hotel.

The Organising Committee of the Operation Transformation 5K Walk / Jog / Run are more than delighted to announce that Mayo Senior player, Alan Freeman, will be joining us in the Gateway Hotel at 1pm for a chat, photographs and presenting the spot prizes!

Thank you to Aiden McLoughlin, Mayo GAA PRO, who hails from Swinford, for helping the Committee with organising the event.

This a charity event with proceeds going to Console Swinford and the Roisin Tansey Trust Fund. Your support for these worthy causes is greatly appreciated.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This week’s draw was worth €1076 and was won by Philomena Quinn of Kilbride.

The next draw will take place in The Sheepwalk Bar on Tuesday 24th February at 9pm.

Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses plus you can also play online.

Next week Swinford GAA Club will be sharing its half of the draw with the National Schools of Meelick and Midfield. Thank you everyone for your continued support.

The next meeting of Swinford and District Gardening Club will be held on Tuesday 24th February at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel. This month’s guest speaker will be Zana Joyce who will be giving a talk on “Spring In The Garden”

There will be a table sale and raffle on the night. All are welcomed to attend. Entrance for non-members is €5.

Registration for the Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC will take place on Friday 27th February from 6pm to 8pm at Swinford Amenity Park. Anyone interested in playing with the club in 2015 are asked to register on that evening. Trainers and club officers will be available at that time to assist with any queries that you may have.

Also, with the new season fast approaching, the club are looking for help in all areas of the club. 2014 was a very successful year for the club and to continue that into 2015, the club needs many new people to take on roles from training / managing teams to club admin work. If you are willing to give even a little bit of your time, please contact Philip, Anne or Brian at the Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC.

This year’s Achonry Regional Pioneer Dinner Dance will be held on Friday 27th February in the Gateway Hotel starting at 8pm.
