VTOS Further Education Centre Open Day
VTOS Swinford is hosting an Open Day today (Wednesday 17th June) from 11am – 2pm. All unemployed adults are welcome to come along to find out more about the Computer and Business Course which is due to start in September 2015. Visitors will have an opportunity to discuss their options, meet staff and students plus take a tour of the building.
Light refreshments will be served.

Please note that due to the ongoing construction work for the “Spirit of Place Project”, there will be no parking in the ground of the centre. However, the centre will remain open and there will be pedestrian access.
Swing 4 Cancer Charity Golf Challenge
Swing 4 Cancer is an exciting and unique challenge to raise funds for Breast Cancer Ireland. Three ‘Pink Swingers’ aim to play one hole of golf in every county in Ireland across two days. Yes that right….32 holes in 32 golf courses in 32 counties on the 19th – 20th June.
The Mayo leg of this event will be held in Swinford Golf Club on Friday 19th June between 4:10pm and 4:40pm. It is hope that many members and well wishers will turn out to support them and all donations for this unique fundraising initiative will be welcome.

A fundraising charity scramble will be held in Swinford Golf Club on Thursday 18th June at 6:30pm. Proceeds will go to ‘Swing 4 Cancer’.

Swinford & District Gardening Club Meeting
Alex Lavarde, Head Gardener at Mount Falcon, will give a talk in the Gateway Hotel on Tuesday 23rd June at 8pm.
Alex has worked wonders on the kitchen garden at Mount Falcon building it from scratch. His advice is always practical and most helpful.
Swinford & District Gardening Club Trips
Swinford Gardening Club outings are always enjoyable and an ideal way to visit new and exciting places. On Sunday 19th July, they will be visiting Strokestown Park House Famine Museum and Garden and their three day tour of Wicklow and Kildare will be leaving Swinford on Monday 10th August.
The Osprey Hotel, Naas will be the base for the tour with visits to Belvedere House & Gardens, Newbridge Silver Museum, Newbridge Shopping Centre, Glendalough, Russborough House & Gardens, Blessington Lakes, Fern Hill Garden Centre and a guided tour of Curragh Military Barracks & Museum.
Cost of tour: €240 pp sharing, single supplement €60.

Swinford Flood Management Consultation Day
Preliminary Options for managing flood risk in Swinford have been produced by JBA Consulting on behalf of the Office of Public Works. A Public Consultation Day will be held on Wednesday 24th June in the Swinford Library and Cultural Centre between 3pm and 8pm.
Members of the community are invited to come along to view the preliminary options and provide any comments they may have.

Siamsa Sraide
Mayo Manchester Tradfest Group will entertain at Siamsa Sraide on Tuesday 4th August at 2pm on the main stage.
This group will include Joe Keegan, who was a runner up in the BBC Voice of Britain three years ago. He will also be accompanied by the Keegan School Of Irish Dance and they include some world class dancers.
This visit is part of a business and tourism networking event.
