Swinford Men’s Shed

Swinford Men’s Shed will be meeting at 8pm on Thursday 16th April in the Community Centre. With the summer months approaching the group are aiming to start some new projects. New members are always welcome.

The Great Cake Bake For Temple Street

A cake sale will take place in Tesco Swinford on Friday 17th April. All proceeds in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

If you are a baker and would you like to donate some items for this great cause, it would be very much appreciated. Items for the sale can be left into Tesco by Thursday 16th April. Please show your support by either baking or buying.

Bank of Ireland ‘Enterprise Town’ Initiative

Bank of Ireland brings its ‘Enterprise Town’ Initiative to Swinford this weekend. The activities taking place over the two days include a Business and Community Expo on Friday 17th April from 3pm to 7pm in the Swinford Cultural Centre and a Sports and Community Expo on Saturday 18th April in Scoil Muire agus Padraig, Swinford from 11pm to 2pm.

Both of the events are free to attend and are open to both customers and non-customers of Bank of Ireland.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This week’s draw was worth €1015 and was won by Seamus Murphy of Ballina.

The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Quinn’s Bar on Tuesday 21st April.

Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

Alzheimer’s Tea Morning

Swinford Active Retirement Group will be hosting a Tea Morning in aid of local Alzheimer’s services in the Gateway Hotel from 10.30am on Friday 24th April.

Please come along for a cuppa and a chat and support this important cause.

Swinford & District Gardening Club have some exciting new trips planned for the summer months and non members are very welcome to come along too.

Mayo Fleadh Cheoil Launch

The official launch of the Mayo Fleadh Cheoil will take place at 8:30pm in Swinford Cultural Centre on Wednesday 22nd April and Mr Damien Ryan, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council will launch Swinford’s third Fleadh Cheoil in a row. All are welcome to attend this event.

The Fleadh will be held in Swinford on May 8th, 9th & 10th with some extra events planned for the week leading up to it.

Swinford Community Games

Swinford Community Games will take place in the Amenity Park on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May starting at 2pm. All children under 16 years and living in the Swinford area are encouraged to come along and take part.

The Mayo Athletics finals will be held on Sunday 21st June in Claremorris.
