Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC U16 Team Go for County Double
Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC U16 girls who are the current U16A County Champions aim to complete the double when they take on
Burrishoole in the Division 1 League Final on Saturday at 4.30 in Mayo Abbey. The girls are enjoying a hectic season with so many of them also being part of our Intermediate Champions and Minor A Finalists teams; and appear to be improving with every game. Along with winning the Championship Swinford Killasser finished top of the U16 Division 1 League.
Swinford Killasser defeated Westport by ten points in the semi-final played at Swinford Amenity Park to qualify for the final against a Burrishoole team who they beat in the Championship Final. This Burrishoole team will be eager to get revenge for that result this time round. We wish the girls the best of Luck in their bid to add this League Title to the Championship one.
Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC Intermediate Teams Historic Season
Swinford Killasser Ladies GFCs have enjoyed a hugely successful year at Intermediate level in 2014. This led to the girls playing St Michaels of Sligo in the Connacht Intermediate Championship Semi-final on Sunday.
On the day, the more experienced team from St Michaels deservedly won to qualify for the Connacht Final. But, they were pushed all the way in a hard fought championship semi-final. We praise the heart and effort put in by our young team on the day when they fought right up to the final whistle to turn this game around; with a performance that they can all be very proud of.
Any disappointment of Sundays result will be quickly erased as these girls appreciate what a wonderful season they have just had; becoming Mayo Ladies Intermediate County Champions. This is a remarkable achievement for such a young team; a team that will have gained so much experience from this year’s campaign which will stand to them in future years as they grow into a stronger and even better team. The Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC 2014 County Intermediate Champions are; Amy McNicholas, Ciara Durkin, Niamh Ansboro, Maeve Peyton, Vanessa McHugh, Michaela Walsh, Anna Tierney, Tara Henry, Hayley Moore, Maria Groarke, Roisin Cafferty, Rebecca Lenehan, Aisling Henry, Sinead Fadden, Roisin Durkin, Orna O’Brien, Melissa Devaney, Regina Mullaney, Bronagh Molloy, Rebecca McHugh, Caoimhe Hennigan, Geraldine Walsh, Andrea Jordan, Aoife Groarke & Alanagh Durkin. Well done girls.
Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC U13s County A Quarter Final.
Swinford Killassers U13s take on Davitts in the County A Quarter Final on Sunday at 1 pm in Swinford Amenity Park.
This exceptionally talented U13 team defeated Charlestown, Kilmovee, Ballyhaunis, Kiltimagh and St Marys to finish top of the table in the East Mayo section of the competition. Sundays game pits the girls against South Mayo runners up, Davitts; a team who we have traditionally had great battles with at this age group. No doubt Sunday will be no different, as the girls strive to reach the County Semi Final.
