Underage Report:

Its been a great few weeks for our underage teams. Our Under 13 started the league Monday 31st with a one point defeat away to Charlestown on a score of 3-8 to 2-10 but they have bounced back with two very good home wins against Hollymount-Carramore and Ballina Stephenites B. On thursday 3rd they beat Hollymount-Carramore by 5-15 to 2-8 and Monday 7th they dispatched Ballina Stephenites B by 9-15 to 1-4. Castlebar Mitchels B team are the latest to be beaten on Monday last by 4-10 to 1-6. They finished the league season joint top of Divison 3A with Charlestown and Hollymount-Carramore.The team are out this Thursday against Charlestown to see who tops Divison 3A and progresses to the semi final as Group winner.

Our Under 15 team have made it three wins in a row with a fine win on Sunday morning away to Aghamore by 6-12 to 1-10. Great credit is due to the players and their management team. Next up is an home game against Ballinrobe next Sunday 27th. We currently sit nicely on top of the Divison.

Mayo Minor Management Team

Swinford GAA would like to congratulate club member, ex-player and our underage coach Damien Gavin on his appointment to the appointment to the backroom team of Enda Gilvarry and the Mayo minor team. Damien will be a great addition to the team.

Under 10 Blitz

Knockmore invited a team of our u10s to play in their annual blitz last Saturday. This competition involves 24 clubs from around the county and is a credit to Knockmore GAA.

The Swinford team played very well and ended up winning their section.  They are just one team from our panel of 35 u10s and the entire u10 panel has shown great application and attitude this year. They improve with every game and we can look forward to seeing them wearing the Black & Red for the next few decades!

A special word of thanks must go out to the coaches on the day – James McNicholas, Ray Gilmore, Thomas Tuffy & Michael Devaney – and to all the underage coaches that are doing such great work for the future of the club, from u6 upwards.

East Mayo Minor Final

In terrible weather conditions we were treated to a fine game of football by two evenly matched teams in Bekan on Friday 11th Sept. Charlestown led by a goal at the break but great points from Ryan Convey, Johnny Burke, Shane Fallon and Jamie Carney and a goal & point from james Devaney in the second half saw Swinford win by two points on a scoreline of Swinford 1-13 Charlestown 1-11. Full report on our website.
