Creating History for Swinford Killasser LGFC As Every Team in The Club Reaches County A Final
Swinford Killassers LGFC U13s qualified for the A Championship County Final with a 5-14 to 1-05 win over Ballyhaunis at Swinford Amenity Park on Monday. Although Ballyhaunis put up a much stronger battle than the scoreline suggests, Swinford Killasser ran out comfortable winners in the end.
The girls overcame Charlestown, Kilmovee, Ballyhaunis, St Marys, Kiltimagh and Davitts to reach the semi-final undefeated. This unbeaten streak was continued on Monday to reach the County Final, where we will play the only other unbeaten team this year, Westport.
For Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC the U13 girls have just completed a remarkable achievement for the year. Every team in the Club has reached the County A Final at its age level in 2014.
Our Intermediate team won the Intermediate Championship, Minor team reached the County A Final, U16s won the County A Championship and our U14 team reached the County A Final. Our U12s won the East Mayo section of the League and played in Division 1 of the non-competitive County League. Our U10s won the only competition at this age grade, the Aoife Regan Cup; where both Swinford Killasser teams reached the final to play against each other for the Title.
And, the year is not over yet. Swinford Killasser Minor team plays Carnacon in the League semi-final this Sunday.
This Minor County semi-final takes place at 3pm at Swinford Amenity Park. Our U16 County Championship winning team are in the Division 1 League Final with ambitions of completing the County title double. This game has yet to be fixed.
First up is this Saturday though. Swinford Killasser take on Westport in the County U13 A Championship Final in Ballyheane. Come along and support the girls in what promises to be an exceptionally good final between two immensely talented teams. The quality of both teams in the final is no surprise as they are representing two of Mayos strongest Ladies Gaelic Football Clubs.
The game throws in at 2.30 and we wish our Swinford Killasser LGFC U13 girls the very best of luck on Saturday as they bid to become County Champions.
Swinford Killasser LGFC U8s, U10s & U11s Enjoy End of Season Party
Swinford Killasser LGFC U8s, U10s & U11s finished off the 2014 season with a smile on their faces, as they enjoyed a party at Swinford Amenity Park on Monday.
This end of season party, sponsored by Tony & Tinos, is our Clubs way of thanking all the girls who showed such commitment when training & playing for Swinford Killasser LGFC this year.
These are probably the most important teams in the whole Club, and we are delighted to say that the future looks extremely bright with so many promising young stars of the future receiving certificates on Monday.
The girls deservedly enjoyed an end of year feast courtesy of top class local food outlet Tony & Tinos. They were then presented with their certificates by Club trainers Orlaith Peyton, Grace Mullaney, Rebecca McHugh, Lorna Kavanagh, Anna Tierney and Roisin Durkin. Afterwards trainers & players joined in the fun of the party to music provided by Anna And Roisin.
Thank you to all the girls from our U16 and Minor teams for helping on the evening; and indeed throughout the year, ensuring that playing for Swinford Killasser is enjoyable and special for the younger players.
Thank you also to all the parents who helped out, both on the presentation evening and on the many evenings when the girls were training.
We look forward to seeing all the girls back for the new season in February.
