Congratulations to Swinford Killasser U16 girls on winning the County U16 Championship Final on Sunday last. This completed the Double of 2015 County Titles for these U16s and brings Swinford Killasser LGFCs tally for the year to a record equaling five County Titles. Although Swinford Killasser ran out thirteen point winners in the end, they were pushed very hard by a very determined Parke team. A goal for Parke gave them the lead early on, and genuine hopes of creating a real shock in this final. Swinford Killasser regained the lead by tacking on the points. But the game was put back into the melting pot, as another goal before the break left Swinford Killasser leading by just a single point at half time.
The second half was a totally different story. Swinford Killasser found another gear and the now tiring challengers just could not live with the eventual champions. Fast accurate passing and direct running tore the defence asunder. Goals from Maeve Gallagher, Briana Fallon and Grainne O’Neill were complimented by a barrage of Swinford Killasser points to win on a scoreline of 4-13 to 3-03.
Swinford Killasser U16 Captain Bronagh Molloy received the Clubs fifth County Champions Cup of the year on behalf of her team mates. These girls have put in a brilliant season and have reaped the rewards for all the hard work. Many have also being involved with either the U14 Double Winning team or the Minor County Champions team. And the girls will now go on to attempt to make it a third County Title Double in the Minor League.
