Tesco Community Fund

Last Summer Tesco launched its Community Fund. The aim of this fund is to donate €1 million euro to local good causes across the country. It has already reached the halfway mark with over €500,000 donated to a variety of groups and organisations.

The following are the organisations which have benefited to date from the Community Fund at Tesco Swinford:

• The Roisin Tansey Fund
• Console
• Swinford Meals on Wheels
• The Autism Unit in Swinford National School
• Friends of the Willows
• Swinford Community Centre
• Culmore National School
• Swinford Scouts
• Friends of Aras Attracta
• Mayo Roscommon Hospice
• Mayo Arthritis
• Mayo Cystic Fibrosis
• Swinford Drama and Variety Group
• MASK Karate Club
• Meelick National School
• Swinford St Vincent de Paul
• Killasser Community Centre
• Barnacogue National School

A blue token collection is currently underway is for Swinford Active Retirement Group, Swinford Forogie and the newly established Swinford Men’s Shed.

Local people have the opportunity to nominate a community group or local charity that they feel will benefit from being part of the fund. Every six weeks, three groups are selected and customers then have the opportunity to vote for their preferred cause every time they shop in Tesco.

This is a great opportunity for local groups to benefit from some extra funding. So if you have a cause that is close to your heart, why not fill out an application form and avail of this chance to secure some much needed cash for your cause.
