Killasser Time Capsule

A Time Capsule will be buried in the grounds of Killasser Church after 11.30 Mass on Sunday 11 November. This will be the final event celebrating the 150th Jubilee of All Saints Church. Special packages are available after weekend Masses in the parish up to 28th October where you may place family memorabilia such as stories, letters, photographs etc. Each costs €2. This is a great way to have families remembered and is bound to generate interest and excitement in the parish when the capsule will be opened in 2048.

Nollaig na mBan

Included in the calendar of ‘Swinford 250 and more’ is the celebration of Nollaig na mBan (Women’s Christmas) on Saturday, 5th January 2019 in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford. A lady’s night of fun which will include a sit-down meal, music, dancing and spot prizes. Tickets are priced at €30 per person. Community Action on Dementia in Mayo – Swinford Tea Dance

Community Action on Dementia in Mayo would like to extend a big thank you to all those who organised and supported the fundraising Tea Dance on the 31st October at the Gateway Hotel in Swinford.
A special thanks to the Gateway Hotel for hosting the event and the individuals, Swinford businesses and traders who donated raffle prizes.

Dementia (Alzheimers)in Rural Ireland – Keeping the conversation going

Mayo North East are holding an information afternoon on Dementia (Alzheimers) in Rural Ireland – Keeping the conversation going, in The Gateway Hotel, Swinford on Tuesday November 13th 2018 at 2.30pm. The guest speaker at the event is Carmel Geoghegan former carer and founder of Dementia Ireland. Helen Rochford Brennan Chairperson of The European Working Group of People Living with Dementia will also speak. All are welcome. The event is free and is funded by the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme.

Swinford Community Games

The AGM of Swinford community games will be held on Thur Nov 15th at 8.30pm at the Amenity Park. All those interested in seeing the continuation of this yearly event are asked to attend, to lend their support to the club.

Swinford Camera Club

Swinford Camera Clubs next meeting is on today, Wednesday November 7th at 8pm.
As always new members are very welcome to join the club. Swinford Camera Club is a friendly, helpful and very welcoming group.
The club meet on 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 8pm, in the Gateway Hotel. If you are interested in photography, why not come along to a meeting.

Swinford & District Gardening Club

Swinford & District Gardening club are planning a day trip to Athlone on November 10th. The trip will include a visit to Derryglad Folk and Heritage museum, Fern Hill Garden Centre and Golden Island Shopping Centre. Breakfast in Roscommon and Dinner on the return journey included. Craobh Eo Woodturning

Are you thinking of taking up a new hobby, but not sure what? Have you an interest in woodturning?
Craobh Eo are the Mayo chapter of the Irish Woodturners Guild. They meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month, in the old schoolhouse, Aughamore at 8pm. Next meeting is Thursday November 8th. New members would be most welcome.

First at 1pm Lunchtime Yogalates, this is a 45 minute Class. The second is Yogalates By Candlelight at 7pm and runs for 1 Hour.
