Adult Drama Workshop

A one day workshop for actors and directors by the acclaimed teacher/director Max Halfer will be held on Sunday June 5th in the Town Hall Theatre, Kiltamagh from 10.30am – 5pm. This multidisciplinary day of drama practise will focus on voice work, acting exercises and explore short scenes which will provide an insight and tackle the question of “being real” on stage.

Please wear comfortable clothing. The day will be varied and active.

Max Halfer has worked extensively with professional actors. He trained with the Michael Chekhov Association in the US and has been teaching Chekhov Technique for many years. He teaches the technique at NUI Galway and has taught it in many other colleges, including the Lir. He has directed several productions with the technique as the bedrock of the process.

Early booking is advisable. The fee is €45.00.

Gardening Club

Katherine will give a talk on “Creating a Haven in your Garden” at 8pm on Tuesday May 24th in the Gateway Hotel.

This talk will also demonstrate the benefits of gardening and its role in improving health and relieving stress.

Suitable for both novice and experienced gardeners.

All are welcome. Non members €5.

 

The 2016 Mayo Litter Action League

The 2016 Mayo Litter Action League April Results are in. The Swinford judging took place sometime from Thursday the 23rd of April, when the competition begun, to Friday the 1st of May. On the Kiltimagh Road 10 pieces of litter were noted including cigarette boxes, takeaway packaging, tin foil, lotto tickets, sweet papers etc.

On Bridge Street 14 pieces of litter were noted.

Market Street was clean with the exception of 1 Dog Foul.

On Main Street from the Bridge to the Hotel 20 pieces of litter were noted and from the Hotel to the top of the street 30 pieces of litter were noted. The litter was varied and included drink bottles, cans, sweet wrappers, serviettes, cigarette butts and boxes etc.

8 pieces of litter were noted on Station Road.

The Kilkelly road was litter free.

Following a sell out run in January, The Acorn Players Leitrim, are returning to The Town Hall Theatre Westport, with their highly acclaimed 3 Act Comedy “The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley” by Jimmy Keary on Saturday 14th May at 8pm. This play has been staged in many venues all over Ireland to packed Theatre’s and we always get a standing ovation. Census 2016 takes place on Sunday the 24th April. The Census includes a dedicated section, Q22, all about family care. Help us raise awareness of Q22 by forwarding this message to a family carer you know. Our Carers Count Campaign has clear advice on how to fill out Q22 properly so that we can gain an accurate measure of the number of carers in Ireland and the number of hours spent caring.
