Seachtain na Gaeilge

Beidh Máire Áine Ní Dhireáin as Inis Mór, Árann i Mellett’s ar an Déardaoin 5 Márta ag 8.30pm ag léamh as a leabhar filíochta “Bean Arann” agus ag tabhairt a léargas féin air. Beidh soláistí ar fáil agus saor cead isteach. Fáilte roimh chách.

Máire Áine Ní Dhireáin will read from her own poetry, “Bean Arann”, in Mellett’s this Thursday March 5th at 8.30 pm. This is a free event and everyone is very welcome to attend.

 

Swinford St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Organisations, Community Groups and Individuals are invited to enter a float in the 2020 Swinford St. Patrick’s Day, which is being held on Tuesday March 17th, 2020.
Entries must be received by Friday March 6th and can be left into The Gateway Hotel, Swinford or sent to parade coordinator Francis Brennan. It is not possible to enter after this date.

Parade Grand Marshal

The Parade Committee are pleased to announce that Swinford Native and current Mayo Association Dublin, Young Person of The Year  Cathal Gavin will be this years “Parade Grand Marshal”

The Committee congratulate Cathal on receiving this well deserved award.

 

Heartfulness, Relaxation and Meditation

Heartfulness, Relaxation & Meditation takes place on Monday March 9th  2020 at 7pm in the Parochial House Swinford.   Free and open to all over 16 years.

Healthcare Support Training

Mayo North East is organising a free Healthcare Support Training Course in Swinford for unemployed people or people in part-time employment. On successful completion of the course learners will have gained a Healthcare Support QQI Level 5 Major award. Garda Vetting must be successfully completed. Swinford Indoor Country Market

Swinford Indoor Country Market returns this Saturday March 7th, from 9.30am until 2pm. The market has a large variety of homegrown locally produced goods and handcrafted items for sale. Call into to the wonderful railway cafe hosted by Isabelle kitchen delights, stay for lunch and have a browse. They look forward to welcoming you there.

Swinford Comhaltas

Michael Davitt CCE (Swinford Comhaltas) music, singing, dancing and comhrá gaeilge classes continue every Saturday in Swinford NS from 12 pm. New pupils are always welcome. Yogalates & Bums & Tums

2 Yogalates Classes Run Every Monday In The Cultural Centre Swinford.
First at 1pm Lunchtime Yogalates, this is a 45 minute Class. The second is Yogalates By Candlelight at 7pm and runs for 1 Hour. Both Classes are For Beginners so join anytime and Classes are Pay As You Go. We start with Yoga Poses so you can start To Heal and Breathe Then Pilates For Strengthening Your Core, then we move on To Stretching To Renew Your Muscles and Help with Posture and Finish with Relaxation. Please Bring your own Mat, Blanket and Cushion. This is Good For Chronic Conditions, Anxiety, Arthritis, Asthma, High Blood Pressure & Fatigue To name a few. Swinford Go Getters

Swinford Go Getters are a social club which meet the second Thursday of each month in The Cultural Centre, Swinford from 10.30am to 12.30pm. We have been asked to have the games more often and are planning to try this in the early part of 2020. (We will advertise when dates/venues available) We are also available to come to your venue and do a demonstration for your group. (please ring to discuss)
The games are aimed at over 55’s include Boccia, Skittles, bucket ball Parachute and Horse racing games and many more. Groups/individuals are most welcome and games are designed to be played sitting or standing, just come along.
