Swinford St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The 67th St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday next March 17th, commencing from the Swinford Amenity Park at 3pm.
Parade organisers invite all to visit Swinford to celebrate our National Feast Day, they ask all to co-operate with the organisers and Gardaí to ensure everybody has an enjoyable and safe day.
On Sunday night March 18th a Parade presentation function will be held in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford at 8pm.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
Léacht le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaeilge. Beidh Peadar O’ Muircheartaigh, as Coillte Mach ó thús, ag tabhairt léachta ar an ábhar: -Scéal Scéalaí: Tomás O’ Cathasaigh agus a chuid scéalta i dteach tabhairne Uí Mhéalóid (Melletts) i mBéal Átha na Muice ag 8pm ar an Déardaoin 15ú Márta. Beidh fáilte roimh chách.
Jack Feeney Commemorative Concert
Celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend by attending the unique Jack Feeney (tenor) commemorative concert which will be held on the eve of St Patrick’s Day Fri 16th March at 8pm in The Gateway Hotel, Swinford.
The renowned singer Seosamh Ó Flaithearta of Cantóirí na Taibhdheirce, Galway, will be accompanied on piano by Tom Cullivan, a former chairman of the Association of Irish Composers. This concert will showcase many classic songs already made popular in Irish & English by both performers, as well as many favourites sung by Swinford’s famous tenor Jack Feeney.
This concert is being organised by the Síamsa Sráide Committee in anticipation of celebrating its 35th year in 2019.
The festival was inaugurated in 1984. Historical, Heritage & Cultural preservation is very much valued by visitors to the annual festival. To this end the name of our famous tenor is worth keeping alive.
Tickets are €15 and are available at O’Connell’s Pharmacy, Mellett’s Newsagency, The Gateway Hotel and on the door.
Swinford & District Gardening Club
On Tuesday March 27th at 8.30pm in the Gateway Hotel Roy Mortimer will give a talk on growing your own potatoes and vegetables. He will also demonstrate his very successful and proven method of growing potatoes in containers. It will be of interest to all those with or without a garden.
All are welcome to attend. Non members €5

Killasser and Carramore National Schools have arranged an Internet Awareness Session for parents on Wednesday 14th March from 7pm to 9pm in Killasser Community Centre. It is suitable for parents up to Junior Certificate level.
