Swinford Celebrates 1916

The organising committee of ‘Swinford Celebrates 1916’ wish to express their sincere gratitude to all individuals and groups who contributed to the successful calendar of events held on April 18th, 23rd and 24th. To those who; participated in or attended the Pageant and Parade; attended the historical talk expertly delivered by Marie Boran; visited the Courthouse; provided the handball display; organised and participated in the tree planting ceremony; erected the flagpole and commemorative Proclamation; raised and flew the National Flag; celebrated, read and sang at mass as Gaeilge – it is deeply appreciated. Thank you also to Midfield Pipe Band for their involvement over the weekend. A special word of thanks to the various sponsors of the event. Community support and participation was evident in the lead up to and during the celebrations and contributed to the overall success of Swinford celebrating 1916.

Due to the success of the Pageant it is proposed that it will be staged once again during Siamsa Sraide in August.

Confirmation of details will be advertised in due course.
