Resilience Building Course for Children in Swinford Cultural Centre – Started Tuesday 16th January 2018

  • 10-week programme to assist children build resilience and self-esteem.
  • Working in small groups, the children will learn important skills and techniques to deal with everyday worries and stresses through fun and interactive activities.
  • The course will be given by Laura Murtagh, Educational Psychologist and Primary Teacher.
  • It will take place on Tuesdays at 4.30 – 5.30 for 7-9 year-olds and from 5.30 to 6.30 for 10-12 year- olds.
  • To book a place email laura@educationalpsychologist.ie. Booking is essential as places are limited to a maximum of 10 per group.

Humbert Duathlon

Swinford Triathlon are hosting Series 4 of Ireland West Duathlon Series on Sunday February 25th 2018 at 10am. This is an open event and involves a 4.5 km run followed by a 20km cycle and ending with a 3km run. The course is flat and is suitable for both the novice and the more experienced competitor. If you do not feel like doing the full event, there is always the option of participating in a relay team. Further details relating to course and entry are available from www.swinfordtriathlon.com. Swinford Agricultural Show

The AGM of Swinford Agricultural Show will be held on Monday February 5th at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel. This is the 30th year of the Show. New ideas and new members will be most welcome.

Killasser Folk Group/Gospel Choir

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This weeks draw was held in The Sheepwalk and Vincent Broderick, won €513.
Envelopes are available in most business premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/25/52 weeks.
Next draw is in Horkans on 30th January.

Swinford GAA Club News

There is a Foundation Level coaching course for anyone interested in taking up coaching this Friday the 26th of January in Swinford Cultural Centre. This is a 2 evening course with the second session on Wednesday February 7th. Contact Eugene Lavin (086-3998434) to book a place, the cost is €20.

The Mayo Branch of Arthritis Ireland will hold its Annual Mass for deceased members and friends on Wednesdays 31st of January at 8pm in Bohola Church.
There will be light refreshments served after the mass.

Credit Union Schools Quiz

Local schools have been invited to participate in the first stage of the nationwide 2018 Credit Union Schools Quiz. This stage of the Quiz is organised by Swinford & District Credit Union. It will take place in Killasser Community Centre on Saturday 27th January at 2pm. This is an enjoyable and fun day for the participants.

Over 25,000 school children under the age of 13 will compete in over 300 venues throughout the 32 Counties. The questions compiled by school teachers, will cover such general topics as geography, history, music, literature and sport.

This is the 27th successive year that the Schools Quiz has been organised by the Irish

League of Credit Unions. It consists of two ‘knock-out’ stages which culminate in a National Final in Dublin on the 8th April in the RDS where 100 qualifying teams will compete.
