Meelick Irish Countrywomen’s Association

Meelick Guild of the ICA will be holding their first meeting of the new season at 8:30pm on Wednesday 9th September in the Meelick Community Centre.

New & past members welcome. The group are organising an exciting programme of activities including nutrition, crafts, physical activities, outings and they also welcome any further suggestions.

Swinford Clean Street League August Results

There have been some changes in the top three street leaders from last month. In July, Ballina Rd was in 1st place with Kilkelly Rd in 2nd and Main Street in 3rd place. This month, Kilkelly Road has jumped into 1st position on 48 points with Ballina Road now in 2nd place on 46 points and Park Road in 3rd on 40 points.

In this months estate league results, Brabazon Heights are out in front in 1st place on 55 points. Battling it out in joint second place for the second month running is Railway Terrace and Bollingbrooke Drive (left) and in 3rd place is The Orchard.

Swinford Athletic Club Harvest Series

Swinford Athletic Club Harvest Series is sponsored by O’Connell’s Pharmacy and will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday 9th September – Straide 5km
Wednesday 16th September – Foxford 5km

All runs start at 7pm. Registration is from 6:45pm at the various community centres. Entry Fee is €2 Members / Kids and €5 for Non Members.

Social Dancing Classes

Social Dancing Classes will start in the Gateway Hotel on Thursday 10th September. Beginners 8:30pm, Dancing from 9:30pm to 11pm.

Volunteers Required

Local mental health charity the Friends of the Willows are looking for 3 people to help out at a bag pack on Friday 11th September in Tesco in Swinford.

They need 2 people from 10am to 2pm and 1 person from 2pm to 6pm.
Transport can be provided if needed.

Church Gate Collection

Local mental health charity Friends of the Willows will be holding Church Gate Collections in Killasser on the weekend of 12th/13th September and in Meelick on Sunday 13th September.

Funds raised will help improve the lives of those with mental health issues in the local area. The charity is grateful for all donations received.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This week’s 50/50 draw was worth €604 and was won by the Feeney family of Ballyglass, Swinford.

The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Quinn’s on Tuesday 15th September.

Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated and who knows next week you could be the lucky winner!

Culture Night

Swinford Cultural Centre is the place to be on Friday 18th September from 7pm to 9pm. Enjoy great local entertainment from Tommy Stenson, ECM Dance, Mean Scoil Muire agus Padraig, CCE Michael Davitt Branch, and the National School’s Of Meelick, Midfield and Kinaffe.

Admission is free and refreshments will be served on the night.

Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw
