All Ireland Ticket Raffle
Angela Meehan is currently raising funds to go to India to work on a childcare project to teach and care for impoverished youngsters run by POD Volunteer.
As part of her fundraising campaign she is running a raffle with the following great prizes: 2 x Hogan Stand All-Ireland final tickets, signed Mayo jersey (donated by Lavins of Swinford) and beer voucher for match day (donated by Sheepwalk Bar, Swinford).
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Gateway Hotel, the Sheepwalk, The White House & Melletts.
The draw will take place in The Gateway Hotel on Friday Sepetmber 16th after the comedy night with Karl Spain.
There will be live music and much prematch craic.
2016 Mayo Litter League August Results for Swinford
The judging for August in the 2016 Mayo litter league has been completed, and the results for Swinford have now been published. The judging of Swinford took place in the morning, sometime between Monday the 1st of August and Friday the 26th. The final round of judging will take place during September.

Month: August_ Area: Swinford Mark 38
From the speed limits on the Kiltimagh Road at Tesco up along Chapel Street and Market Street 11 pieces of litter were noted, these consisted of paper and plastic wrappers, drink bottle and a cigarette box.
Main Street had 20 pieces of litter noted, these consisted of sweet wrappers, plastic wrappers, small piece of tin foil, brown paper bag and cigarette box.
Along Station Road and Circular Road there was 10 pieces of litter noted, these consisted of paper and sweet wrappers.
16 pieces were noted along Brookville Avenue, litter varied from plastic and drink bottles, brown paper wrapper, sweet and paper wrappers.
Davitt Place to Kilkelly Road 5 pieces of litter were noted, these consisted of plastic bottle, drink cup and sweet wrappers.
The bottle banks and car park were clean.
Along Bridge Street this was litter free.

Culture Night
Swinford Cultural Centre will celebrate Culture Night on Friday September 16th. Everyone is invited to come along at 7pm to enjoy an evening of music and dance provided by Foxford Brass and Reed Band, CCÉ Michael Davitt Branch members and ECM Dance.
No cover charge. All welcome.
Swinford and District Gardening Club
The next Gardening Talk will take place on Tuesday the 27th September at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel. Marie Casey will speak and present a slideshow on the use of sculpture and sound in the garden. She will also give practical ideas for Autumn in the Garden.
All are welcome. Non members 5 euro.

Get started on Computers
Jobseekers and people in part-time employment who want to improve their typing skills and learn how to use the internet, set up emails etc can avail of free training in the Library and Cultural Centre, Swinford on 26th September. Church Gate Collection
Local mental health charity the Friends of the Willows will hold gate collections in Meelick & Killaser on Septmeber 10th and 11th.
Funds raised will help improve the lives of those with mental health issues in our local area.

Harvest series sponsored by O’Connell’s Pharmacy on Wednesday September 7th, Cloontia 6km and Wednesday September 14th Foxford 5km.
All runs start at 7.15pm with registration from 6.45pm at the various community centres. Entry fee is €2 for members, €5 non members.
