Free Recycling Of Christmas Trees

Mayo County Council have made arrangements for the recycling of Christmas Trees after the Christmas Season. There are numerous Christmas Tree recycling depots around County Mayo where you can drop off your Christmas Tree for free.

Any person in the Swinford and surrounding areas who wishes to avail of this service is invited to deposit their used Christmas Tree into the Mayo County Council Pound, Kilkelly Road, Swinford before Saturday 17th January.

Please ensure that all decorations are removed from the trees prior to recycling.

A full list of all the Christmas Tree drop off locations in County Mayo can be found on the Swinford Tidy Towns website.

Let’s Get Walking Together

The Mayo Branch of Arthritis Ireland is starting a new ‘Let’s Get Walking Together’ group for people living with arthritis and fibromyalgia in the Swinford and surrounding areas.

Walking is a great way to exercise and is proven to be the best way to manage arthritis pain and help make joints more flexible, as well as being a great way to have a bit of fun.

The first walk will take place in Swinford on Saturday 10th January at 10am starting at the Civic Centre. To book a place call Margaret on 087 4150663

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

The first lucky draw winner of 2015 is Caroline Galvin of Callow, Swinford. Congratulations on winning €1005.

The next draw will take place in Mellett’s, Swinford on Tuesday 13th January at 9pm.

Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses plus you can also play online.

Christmas Lights Church Gate Collection

Swinford Christmas Lights Committee wishes to thank all those who supported their recent Church Gate Collection. A total of €400 was collected.

Fitness Training

MKFitness will be commencing Circuits / Bootcamp Fitness Training in the Cultural Centre, Swinford on Wednesday evenings at 8pm starting tonight. (Wednesday 7th January)

Tickets for the GAA National Club Draw are now available from Swinford GAA Club. There are a number of great prizes up for grabs including overseas trips to watch the 2015 All Stars. A full list of all the prizes on offer can be found here.

Tickets are €10 and are available from the players and Swinford GAA club officers. The club retains all proceeds from the ticket sales, which will be used during the year for club development.

Swinford GAA Club would like to remind everyone that club membership for 2015 is also now open.
