Irish TV – Swinford Procession Of The Souls

A feature on the Swinford Procession Of The Souls // Pride Of Place aired last night (Tuesday 1st September) on the Mayo County Matters programme but good news for those of you who missed it!

Swinford Indoor County Market

It’s the start of a new month and Swinford Indoor County Market is on this Saturday 5th Sept from 9:30am to 2pm in the Swinford Cultural Centre.

The market organisers have a busy day planned for the whole family.

‘In Stitches’ Wool & Craft shop are running a workshop for all children (Boys & Girls) aged 6+. As always there will be lots of lovely stalls with a few new faces among them, Sheerin’s Craft Butcher will be joining the market as well as plenty of fruit, veg, cakes, breads, preserves, plants, crafts, and many more locally produced goods will be available on the day.

They will also be holding a book sale in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

The Railway Cafe is there to sit down and relax with a lovely cup of tea and a slice of cake while enjoying the live music that will be playing.

The organisers are looking forward to seeing you all there.

Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw

The next Killasser Community Centre 50/50 Draw will be held in Frank’s Place on Saturday 5th September.

€5 per entry and guaranteed winner every month!

Swinford Athletic Club Harvest Series

Swinford Athletic Club Harvest Series is sponsored by O’Connell’s Pharmacy and will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday 2nd September – Cloontia 5km
Wednesday 9th September – Straide 5km
Wednesday 16th September – Foxford 5km

All runs start at 7pm. Registration is from 6:45pm at the various community centres. Entry Fee is €2 Members / Kids and €5 for Non Members.

Swinford Tidy Towns would like to thank everyone who contributed to their annual Church Gate Collection at Swinford Church over the weekend. They would also like to thank all the volunteers for their help at the three masses.

A total of €653.50 was donated by the people of the parish.

This will be a great help to Swinford Tidy Towns and will enable them to continue the various projects that they have planned for around town.

Fundraising Cake Sale

A cake sale in aid of Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust will be held after 11:30am Mass on Sunday 6th September in the Killasser Community Centre.

Any contribution of home made / home grown items would be very welcomed. Items can be left into the community centre on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw

This week’s 50/50 draw was worth €808 and was won by John McLoughlin of Derryronane, Swinford.

The next Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw will take place in Julian’s on Tuesday 8th September.

Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also get your tickets online through the Swinford GAA store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated and who knows next week you could be the lucky winner!

Butterfly Babes

Barnacogue National School are thrilled to be hosting Butterfly Babes Music for six weeks beginning on Wednesday 9th September. Butterfly Babes with Angel is a unique and wonderful musical education group for all young babes from birth to four years of age. This inspiring program is designed to awaken your child’s lifelong love for music.

Come and join in the fun and help your child develop confidence, motor skills, vocabulary and their all important bond with you!

You will be tapping your feet and singing along with your baby or child to the music. The program introduces many classical pieces to original lyrics from the butterfly babes’ creators. You are sure to be singing these catchy melodies to your children for years to come!

Giggles Drama School classes start back in the Swinford Cultural Centre on Wednesday 9th September.

and from 8 to 9pm for Teenagers.

Local mental health charity the Friends of the Willows are looking for 3 people to help out at a bag pack on Friday 11th September in Tesco in Swinford.

They need 2 people from 10am to 2pm and 1 person from 2pm to 6pm.
Transport can be provided if needed.
