Swinford Indoor Country Market

Swinford Indoor Country Market is on the 7th of November from 9.30-2pm at the Swinford Cultural Centre and we have a busy day planned for the whole family.

‘In Stitches’ Wool & Craft shop are running a workshop for all children (Boys & Girls) aged 6+.

As always our lovely stalls are there and we have a few new faces among them, Sheerins Craft Butcher will be joining us as well as veg, cakes, breads, preserves, plants, crafts, and many more will be available.

The Railway cafe is there to sit down relax while enjoying the live music and having a lovely cup of tea with a slice of cake.

We’ll be looking forward to seeing you all there to help celebrate with us.

Swinford Men’s Shed

Motivation weight management from Castlebar will be giving Swinford Mens Shed a talk on nutrition and the psychology of why we overeat this Thursday evening at 7pm in the Gateway Hotel. This will be followed by a meeting of the Mens Shed. All members are aske to attend. New members are always welcome. The motivation talk is open to everyone.

Occupational First Aid Training

An occupational First Aid training course will be held in the Cultural Centre Swinford on the 3rd, 4th & 5th of November 2015.  The course is free to unemployed people.  Places are limited so please book early.  To register please contact Dolores McNicholas at 087 7704251 or email dmcnicholas@mayonortheast.com

Interview Skills Training Workshop:

This one day workshop aims to provide the key skills necessary to excel in future interviews. Training will be held in Swinford on Thursday 26th November 2015.

The course is free to unemployed people. Places are limited and early booking is advised.

Christmas Fayre & Bazaar

A Christmas Fayre and Bazaar will be held in the Cultural Centre on Sunday the 29th of November from 12-5 pm.  There will be lots of stalls on the day and all proceeds go to the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice.  The organisers are looking for donations of unwanted gifts, Christmas decorations etc all items you have to give away can be brought to the Hospice Shop between 9.30am-5.30 every day.  Please support it is for a great cause.

 

Swinford Golf Club Card Game

The 25 drive card games are back on Thursday 29th October at 9 o’clock all new members welcome.

 

Kinaffe National School Centenary  Celebrations

Kinaffe National School are celebrating 100 years on 31st October with  a special mass at 12 noon.  Everyone is more than welcome to join in the festivities.

 

Halloween Disco hosted by Swinford Foroige

There is a Halloween Disco for Primary School Children on the 30th of October in the Gateway Hotel.  Organisers want one parent/guardian to accompany each child attending, refreshements will be provided.  The disco starts from 7-9 o’clock and the admission price is €5 for one child or €10 for 2 or more children.

Coaches Required

Swinford FC are looking for people to help coach the U-8’s & U10’s.  The training will be held on Tuesday’s from 4-5 pm.  Please contact Gerry Gaughan , Alan Cassidy or Donal Benson 087 9785987 or westmed@eircom.net if you are interested.  Please remember the club are always looking for parents to help out.

Fine Gael Meeting

Swinford  branch of Fine Gael held a well attended meeting in the Gateway Hotel recently.  In attendance was Deputy Michelle Mulherin and Cllr. Neil Cruise and other members.  Deputy Mulherin spoke about the new water and sewerage treatment plants that have been given the go ahead for Foxford and Charlestown and a grant of €50.000 for work on the courthouse in Swinford and a new walkway around the town.  Neil Cruise stated that these schemes have been on the agenda for a long number of years but is only now that the money has been provided.  He also welcomed the grant to Swinford Amenity Park for the provision of a running track.  The meeting finished with a very positive outlook for the New Year.

This weeks draw for Swinford GAA 50/50 draw was held in the Gateway Hotel on 27th October and Amy McIntyre of Lurga, Charlestown won €638. Envelopes are available in most business premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/25/52 weeks. Next draw in Melletts on 3rd November. Draw envelopes are now also available at 3 for €5.
