Swinford Tri-Sport Duathlon
Swinford Trisports Club will be holding a fun duathlon on Saturday 28th November and they would like invite anyone wishing to try a one to come along and give it a go. The duathlon involves a 16km cycle and a 5km run and is open to all abilities.

Swinford National School Church Gate Collection
The Parents Association of Scoil Muire agus Treasa would like to thank everyone who contributed to their recent Church Gate collection and sincere thanks to all the collectors who gave up their time so freely.
The total amount collected was €401.43
Monster Tea Party
A Monster Tea Party will take place on Friday 28th November in the Gateway Hotel from 11am to 2pm. The event is sponsored by Tesco and all proceeds raised are in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Everybody is invited to join in this morning of fun with plenty of entertainment and raffle prizes. So please come along and support a great cause.

Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw
This week’s draw was worth €1150 and was won by Caitriona Devine of Midfield.
The next draw will take place in The Sheepwalk Bar on Tuesday 2nd December.
Draw envelopes are widely available in Swinford’s shops and businesses and you can also play online.

Senior Citizens Christmas Party
Senior Citizens Christmas Party will take place in Julian’s on Sunday 14th December commencing with Mass at 3pm, followed by dinner and entertainment. A pleasant evening is assured and new faces are always welcome.

Hospice Shop Christmas Bazaar
The Hospice Shop Christmas Bazaar will be held in the Cultural Centre on Sunday 30th November. Doors open at 12 noon. There will be lots of Christmas gifts ideas, decorations, jewellery, bric-a-brac, books, dvds, cakes, teas and coffees, small items of furniture, health products, raffles, along with children’s entertainment and plenty of good music. Santa Claus and Mrs Claus will also be attending. So why not join them for a cuppa and home made apple pie! A fun day out for all the family. Admission is free.
All proceeds in aid of Palliative Care Services.
If anyone has any unwanted gifts or small items of furniture that they would like to donate to the bazaar, could you kindly drop them into the Hospice Shop before Sunday 30th November. Or if you feel like baking, that would be lovely.
Cemetery Rosary
The rosary will be recited at the Famine Grave in Swinford on Sunday 30th November after 12 noon mass.

Swinford Cycling Club Spinning Classes
Spinning Classes commenced on Monday 24th November at 8pm in Community Centre, Swinford. Registration will start at 7.30pm and the classes will run for five weeks. The total cost to members (Swinford CC or Swinford Tri) will be €15 or if paying by the night €5 per session. The cost to non members will be €20 for the full five weeks.
Though some of the club members have expressed an interest in doing a run beforehand it is important that spinning starts on time so perhaps it may be best to leave that on hold until after Monday night.
We have a few spare turbo trainers which can be made available if required. These will be given out on a first come first served basis.
Swinford Cycling Club would also like to remind you that they hold a cycle every Sunday morning departing at 9:15am sharp from Corrib Oil. There are various routes available to cater for all categories of cyclist from the novice right up to the more experienced bike rider.

Swinford GAA Annual General Meeting
Swinford GAA Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 30th November at 7:30pm in the Gateway Hotel. Any members who wish to nominate members to the club executive or submit a motion must forward them to the club secretary, Katie Kelly by the end of today (Wednesday 26th November). All nominations must be properly proposed and seconded and must also be signed by the person being nominated indicating their consent.
‘Rose in the Heather’ CD Launch
‘Rose in the Heather’ is the title of a new CD recorded by a group of well known musicians and singers and also introducing a new generation of musicians who have mastered the pure tradition style and capture the South Sligo musical heritage.
The Michael Davitt Branch CCE is proud to be associated with this unique work and will host the official Mayo launch. This launch will be held in the Gateway Hotel on Saturday 6th December at 9pm.
All members of the community are invited to join in and celebrate a great night of music in the company of Harry Mc Gowan, Jimmy Murphy, Gregory Daly, James McDonagh, Ollie Ross and Francis Gaffney, Mary Frain, Maeve O’Dowd and Antoinette Byrne and introducing Ronan McDonagh, Joseph O’Dowd, Adrian and Keith Frain.
