Litter Action League
The Mayo Litter Action League competition runs from April to September. The inspection between 3 April and the April 31, seen Swinford been awarded 82 points out of 100.

Gardening Club day trip
Swinford Gardening Club have organised a day trip to Donegal for June 3. Leaving Swinford at 8.15am. There will be a tour of Donegal bay by waterbus visiting Ashtree Garden centre, Killybegs and Glencolumbcille Heritage village. Breakfast en route and dinner in Donegal town, cost €65, non-members welcome. Contact Angela 0876520311.
Mass for exam students
An exam mass for Junior and leaving cert students on Monday, June 5 at 7.30pm in Knock Basilica. Students can bring their pencil case for blessing. Information from Andrea Lynch at Knockyouth-ministry@yahoo.ie
Blessing for expecting mothers
There will be a blessing for expectant mothers on Saturday June 3, in the Shrine at 11.45am until 1pm.
Swinford/Mayo GAA draw
The county Board Club development draw tickets for €100 are now available from club officers. There will be 6 draws with a prize fund of €97,000.
Midfield Development Association Village clean-up
Midfield Development Association are organising clean-up in Midfield village and surrounding roads, on Wednesday 24, at 6.30pm, meeting in Julians. Calling all local adults to join with clean-up. Many hands make light work and all help greatly appreciated. All litter pickers supplied with gloves and bags. Let MDA members know if there is any particular area needs attention. Next meeting June 11, at 9pm, Midfield National School.
Congratulation Swinford Drama Group
Congratulation Swinford Drama Group for huge success of the drama production “The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley” which debuted in Meelick Community Centre, May 12 and 13. Two nights of fun and laughter was had by all. Production will return again in The Siamsa Sraide street festival Swinford on August 5 at 8.30, in Swinford Cultural Centre and various venues throughout 2017. Two nights of fun and laughter was had by all.
Time trials
Club training for Swinford Cycling and Triathlon each Tuesday at 7pm. All welcome, all needed is bike and helmet and €2 (few goes as guest before you join) participate either alone or with friends where you time yourself over 15 km using new club clocks. Swinford Scout Leaders
Additional scout leaders required for September 2017. If you enjoy working as part of a team with indoors and outdoor activities, and have an hour to spare each week, we would love to hear from you. Full training provided. Next meeting Monday, June 19 in the meeting room of the cultural centre at 8pm. Yogalates

Killasser Parish
The Killasser Parish league will take place on Sunday June 4 at 4pm. Girls and boys between 8 and 13 years are invited to play. The winning team will receive the Kevin Groarke Perpetual Cup.
Golf
Golf competition, May 14, winners, Ronan Monaghan, Gearoid Kerins, Gerry Ronayne and Matt Duggan. Ladies 18 hole stableford competition Mary Horkan topped leader board and runner up Margret Sweeney. Swinford play Claremorris on Wednesday, May 24, with the Irish Mixed foursomes round 2 on next Saturday. Swinford play Westport in Pierce Purcell Shield. Next week’s 18 hole stableford for the men is the final competition before presidents prize, June 3, when Mary Doyle puts up prize for both ladies and men. Entry as soon as possible. First round matches in the Ormsby Cup should be completed and second round are to be played in the coming ten days. Junior games Saturday mornings 10.30 to 12.30pm.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers Tutors needed to tutor over 55’s on computers/tablets/smartphones to help learners navigate the Internet and gain confidence using their device
Age Action runs courses (each course lasts for 5 weeks, 2 hours per week) in the Swinford Library, on Wednesdays from 10.00 and 12.00. Classes are generally run on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis and both tutors and learners find the classes rewarding and fun. Good computer skills and fluent English needed but patience and good humour just as important! The 50/50 draw was held after training at the Amenity Park and congratulations to Ann Mannum who won this weeks jackpot of €204.
