Carer And Young Carer of the Year Award 2016

If you know a carer, whether a relative, neighbour or a friend, who you think should be recognised and rewarded for the extraordionary levels of care they provide to a loved one why not nominate them for our carer of the Year Award or our Young Carer of the Year Award.

Closing date for receipt of entries is Friday Sepetember 16th and you can use the link to fill out your entry http://familycarers.ie/get-involved/carer-of-the-year-2016/

New Members Required

Local charity Friends of the Willows would love to find some new committee members to join their team. They also seek people to help with upcoming church gate collections and a bag pack.

If you feel like helping raise funds to provide essential mental health services in the local community please contact Collette on 087 6732381.

All help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Shine A Light 2016

On October 21st of this year Shine A Light campaign to raise awareness of homelessness in Ireland is holding its Business Leaders Sleep out.

It is hoped to hold an event in Swinford to raise awareness and help fundraise for Focus Ireland to support their efforts to end homelessness.

Work is at an early stage in regards to the sleep out in Swinford but if you wish to get involved in any way please contact swinfordshinealight@gmail.com

 

Connect with Technology

Age Action Ireland is holding beginner/refresher classes for older people (55+) who have little or no experience and are terrified of technology, or for those who have some knowledge and would like to take it to the next phase.

Classes will start again in September in Swinford Library on Wednesday’s from 10am to 12 noon.

Participants are generally taught on a one to one basis by trained and experienced volunteer tutors.

Killasser Community Care Group are organising a one day pilgrimage to Lough Derg on Tuesday September 13th.

Envelopes are available in most business premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/25/52 weeks. Next draw is in the Moores on the 30th August. Draw envelopes are now available at 3 for €5.

All Ireland Final

Presently the club are not taking orders for tickets for the All Ireland Final. Announcements will be made on Facebook/Twitter/swinfordgaa.ie when we have more information.
We would advise all members to seek out tickets throughout the country as it is anticipated the club will not get enough tickets to satisfy demand.
