Official Launch Of Swinford Christmas Festival
The official launch of the 2015 Swinford Christmas Festival will take place this Thursday November 19th in the Gateway Hotel at 8pm.
Everybody is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.
Christmas Festival 2015
Swinford Christmas Festival will run from Friday November 27th to Sunday December 6th, with many great events planned. Swinford Shopping Bonanza will run throughout the festival with thousands in local shopping vouchers up for grabs in all participating businesses.
Other events include live concerts with International acclaimed singer Declan O’Rourke and our very own Everyday Solution.
Mayo Roscommon Hospice bazaar, indoor markets, Console Festival of Light, historical talk, woodland treasure hunt, poetry night with Martin Dyar, table quizes, Santas Grotto, senior citizens day and an afternoon tea party and much more.
All festival events will be promoted on Swinford.ie and please look our for the brochure over the next few weeks for details of the Christmas Festival.

“Celebration Of Light “
On the 29th of November the Console Mayo “Celebration of Light” will be held in Swinford Parish Church at 5 o’clock.
This will be an afternoon of music, song and readings in candlelight with a minutes silence observed so that all present can reflect and remember loved ones who have died from suicide.
A rememberance Table will be set up and anyone who wishes to place a photo of their loved one on it is more than welcome to do so.
Three Tenors Concert
A concert by the Three Tenors of religious songs, seasonal favourites and other music will take place in the Swinford Church on Sunday the 13th of December at 8.15pm.
The concert will also feature the choir of Scoil Muire agus Padraig and violist Maria Mason.
Tickets are €25 and are available from Spain’s, Mellets Newsagents and the Gateway Hotel.
All Night Vigil In Knock
The 43rd annual All Night Vigil takes place at Knock Shrine on December 7th and 8th to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
The main celebrant will be Archbishop of Tuam Michael Neary. Confessions from 10pm to midnight, vigil from midnight with rosary, candlelight procession, holy hour and Stations of the Cross.
Concelebrated Mass at 4am in our Lady’s Basilica.

Pieta House Fundraiser
Pieta House are holding their annual bag pack in Tesco, Swinford this Saturday 21st of November. Pieta House West is located in Tuam and provides one to one professional and therapeutic support to individuals across the Western Region who are struggling with thoughts of suicide or engaging in self harm.
Clients can self refer into the service directly or via a family member, meaning a GP or Psychiatric referral is not required.
A referral can be made in confidence by contacting the centre on 093 25586. This service specialised counselling service in addition to support for family members is provided completely free of charge.

AGM Meeting For Swinford Cycling Club
The Swinford Cycling Club have their AGM meeting this Sunday the 22nd of November in the Gateway Hotel.
The meeting starts at 7pm.
All members are asked to attend and anyone with an interest in cycling are more than welcome.
Camera Club Meeting
Swinford Camera Club’s next meeting is on Wednesday evening 18th November at 8pm in the Gateway Hotel. We would like to welcome all our recent new members to the club. Meetings are held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday night at 8 pm in the conference room of the Gateway Hotel.
Awards Evening
Swinford Cultural Centre will host an Awards Evening on Wednesday December 2nd at 7pm for all entrants in the recent Design a LOGO Competition.
All competitors will receive a prize in recognition of the fantastic works of art which were entered in the competition. The winner in each category and the overall winner will be announced.
All entries will be on display and everyone is welcome to come and view them.
Adjudication was carried out by Independent Adjudicator Gaynor Seville of Mayo County Council’s Arts Office.

The AGM of Michael Davitt branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann will be held in the Gateway Hotel on Wednesday 18th of November at 8.30pm.
All branch members are invited to attend and new members are very welcome.
Carers Association
The Carers Association have recently set up a 50/50 draw to support Family Carers in Mayo.
Half of the winnings go towards the envelope picked out and the other half to support Family Carers in Mayo.
If you have a spare €2 could you please put it in one of our envelopes. The €2 envelopes are left in a box in Corrib Oil Swinford.

This weeks draw for Swinford GAA 50/50 draw was held in Julians on 17th November and Jane McNicholas of Oakdrive, Swinford won €654.00. The winning envelope was sold by Mary Ryland.
Envelopes are available in most business premises and online through www.swinfordgaa.ie where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10/25/52 weeks.
Next draw in Quinns on 24th November. Draw envelopes are now also available at 3 for €5.
