Swinford man Steve Halligan Winner of Kiwi Brevet 2015

Swinford man Steve Halligan, resident in New Zealand for the past seven years, was first across the line in a cycle touring event called the Kiwi Brevet at the weekend.

The Kiwi Brevet is a mountain biking challenge which takes place annually in the south island of New Zealand. It consists of an 1100 km course with as much off road riding as possible. Competitors have 8 days to complete the course.

Steve was 1st across the line on Tuesday morning local time, completing the course in less the 4 days. That’s an average of 280 km a day, a real test of endurance and stamina.

Steve finished joint 3rd in the same event in 2014, so it is a great personal achievement for him to finish as number 1 this year.

Congratulations Steve, Well Done.
