Pride of Place Swinford
Pride of Place is a competition run throughout the 32 counties of Ireland for Communities to showcase the voluntary activities of Clubs and other organisations. Swinford is the Mayo entrant this year. Judges visited Swinford at 3pm on Tuesday August 5th, starting at the Cultural Centre and then going on to visit different activities taking place around our Community. Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC held an Under 13 training match at 3pm at the Amenity Park to showcase the young footballers from our Club and do our bit to help Swinford on the way to becoming a Pride of Place Winner for 2014.
U14 & U16 Matches
Our U14 and U16 teams put in two tremendous performances during the week. Firstly our U14s played Knockmore in the County A Championship Semi Final. The girls put in a very brave effort and can be extremely proud of their performance on the day taking the game to extra time; before succumbing to the host Club. With so many of our team underage again next year it is a great achievement to have reached this stage of the Championship to follow on from reaching the Division One League Final. Our U14B team will play Kiltane A team in the County U14C Championship Quarter Final today at Swinford Amenity Park. Our U16s finished off the league stages of the County Division One League with a win over Kilmoremoy on Wednesday in Ardnaree ; thus finishing top of the league and guaranteeing a home draw for the Semi Final. These achievements of both our U14A and U16 teams reaching the latter stages at the top levels of competitions, together with the impressive progress of our U14B team, promises a very bright future for Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC. Well done girls.
