Swinford GAA Notes – 6th March 2015

You are welcome to share this on:

Michael Walsh Intermediate Cup

Swinford defeated Parke on a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-8 in Round 2 of the Michael Walsh Intermediate Cup. We led for most of the way but a comeback by Parke had them leading by a point going into the last five minutes before a late flurry of scores from Swinford including points from Paul McDonagh and Kevin Doyle plus a goal by Liam Moran sealed the win.

We are away to Castlebar Mitchells in Round 3 of the Cup on Sunday 15th March at 11:30am in Castlebar. All support welcome.

Any changes and match updates will be posted on the Swinford GAA Facebook and Twitter pages.

50/50 Draw

This weeks Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw was held in Boland’s Bar on Tuesday 3rd March. Congratulations to Kevin Nestor of Market Street who won €1,003.

Draw envelopes are available in most local business premises for the next draw which will be held in Frank’s Place, Killasser on Tuesday 10th March at 9:00pm. Starting this week you can now buy 3 envelopes for €5. Please put the money in 1 envelope and the place of purchase will staple the 3 envelopes together.

Tickets are also available online through the Swinford GAA Website.

Since the inception of the draw over €30,000 has been given out in prize money and Swinford GAA Club has purchased much needed equipment for all our teams and we are also building a fund for the future development of our facilities. None of this could have been done without the support of the entire community and this is greatly appreciated.

Topaz Cash For Clubs

Topaz are running a promotion for all clubs at the moment giving the opportunity to win thousands of euro for the club. You can pick up a card and begin to collect stamps at Gavaghan’s Mace & Topaz. The Swinford GAA Club registration code is 10431. The Cash For Clubs initiative runs until Sunday 10th May 2015 and you can find out more about it here.

Annual Dinner Dance

Swinford GAA will be holding its annual dinner dance and awards night in the Gateway Hotel on Easter Sunday. Music on the night will be provided by Galway band Fraggle Rock. Details of ticket sales will be unveiled next week.

Swinford GAA Committees

We are looking for people to give up their time to help out on various committees within the club. At present there are vacancies on the Finance Committee and the Pitch Committee. If you are interested please contact a club officer.

Club Development Draw 2015

Swinford GAA Club has launched their club draw for 2015. The annual subscription remains at €150. The club draw is again structured this year to ensure each subscriber is getting value for their money and you will be entitled to the following for your €150 investment in the club;

1.  Club Membership – €20

2.  Entry to Swinford GAA Home League games

3.  County Board ticket – €100, which has a prize fund of €90,000 and

4.  An entitlement to purchase an All-Ireland Senior Football Final ticket should Mayo reach the final in 2015.

The officers of the club have decided to restrict the numbers in the draw this year to 130 people in order to limit the ticket demands placed on it should Mayo reach the All Ireland Final in 2015.

Please contact any club officer as soon as possible if you are interested in purchasing a ticket as we expect to sell the allocation within a couple of weeks.
