Swinford GAA Notes – 22nd May 2015

You are welcome to share this on:

Intermediate Championship

This Sunday sees the start of our campaign in the 2015 Egan’s Jewellers Intermediate Football Championship. Throw in is at 4pm against Burrishoole in Robert McCallion Memorial Park.

The other two teams in our group Tourmakeady and Hollymount/Carramore are playing each other on Saturday evening.

Our last meeting with Burrishoole was in March 2014 in the Michael Walsh Intermediate League Semi Final when we won on a score of Swinford 1-7 Burrishoole 1-4. Let’s hope for a similar winning margin this weekend.

Come along and lend your support to the team.

50/50 Draw

This week’s Swinford GAA 50/50 Draw was held in Heaneys, Killasser on Tuesday 19th May and Angela Breheny c/o Gateway Hotel won €810. Next week’s draw will take place in The White House on Tuesday 26th May.

Draw envelopes are available in most local business premises at €2 each or 3 for €5. You can also enter online through the Swinford GAA Store where tickets can be purchased in bundles of 10, 20, or 52 weeks.

In the next few weeks, the club intend to improve the warm up area adjacent to the clubhouse by building a supporting wall and laying astro turf. We will also carry out remedial works to the playing surface of Robert McCallion Memorial Pitch. All underage players are currently being kitted out in club tops. All this work could not be done without the support of the entire community, it is very much appreciated.

In approximately 10 months that the draw has been running over €40,000 has been won by weekly winners. Next week you could be the lucky one……..

Under 14 League

Well done to our Under 14 team who finished their league campaign on Thursday 14th May with an away win against Carras winning 8-9 to 7-6.

It was a tough league with a great finish.
Well done to the team management and players.

Under 12 League

The young lads are doing very well in the early stages of the league and with their huge numbers are putting out two teams every week. This is a credit to their dedicated management and trainers.
