Swinford Community Lotto supports over Thirty Groups
2014 has once again seen a massive growth in activities taking place at the Swinford Amenity Park. This spiraling increase in usage continues the ever rising trend experienced annually since opening. On a given day three to four hundred people, mainly children, could be using the facilities; as they participate in the various activities of the groups who share the forty five different scheduled time slots per week.
On top of these regular scheduled slots, Swinford Amenity Park hosts matches & events for these groups. An example of this would be last weekend October 4th to 6th:
• Saturday; 2pm; Mayo v Tyrone in All Ireland Masters Championship
• Saturday 4pm; Swinford v Kiltimagh in U10, U8 & U6 Boys Blitz
• Saturday 5.45pm; Swinford Killasser v Hollymount in Mayo LGFA Minor League
• Sunday 2pm; Carnacon v St Marys in Mayo LGFA Minor B County Final
• Monday 12.30pm; Scoil Murie & Padraig Secondary School v St Louis Kiltimagh
• Monday 6pm; Swinford Killasser v Charlestown in Mayo LGFA U13 League.
To cater for this welcome increase in demand and to allow for future growth, Swinford Amenities is constantly developing the facilities which benefit so many groups in our community.
Recent development works which have enabled Swinford Amenity Park to facilitate this growth include
• New multi-use sports field
• Floodlit training area
• Jogging/Walking track
• Car park access
• Office
These development works, together with the building loan repayments and the demand related increase in the upkeep costs of facilities, are possible thanks to Swinford Community Lotto.
So far this year more than thirty groups have benefitted from the facilities provided by the Swinford Community Lotto & they include the following:
