ECM Dance Are Back!

ECM Dance are a dance school based in the Swinford and Charlestown areas, run by local girl Charlotte Moore and Ballina native Emma Coleman.

After spending time in America studying dance and acting over the past few years the girls have decided to spend this summer teaching the youth of Mayo in all aspects of dance and performing arts.

Summer Dance Camps

This summer ECM Dance will be holding many camps across the county such as:

Kiltimagh 29th June – 3rd July (10-2pm)
Charlestown 29th June – 3rd July (3-7pm)
Ballina 6th – 10th July (10-2pm)
Swinford 6th – 10th July (3-7pm)
Tubbercurry 27th – 31st July (10-2pm)
Enniscrone 27th – 31st July (3-7pm)

Included in the week will be hip hop, contemporary, break dancing, musical theatre and performing arts. The Swinford Camp will be held in the Cultural Centre and is open for girls & boys aged 5 – 19 years.

Both girls spent last summer in New York training in the Broadway Dance Centre, learning new styles and getting fresh new ideas. Emma has just completed a dance intensive course in Dublin and has performed in one of the most renowned shows in Dublin. Charlotte is just back from studying drama and performance in the U.S. and achieved a spot on the premier hip-hop dance team in North Carolina, U.S.A.

Charity Dance Camp In Ballina

Also this summer, Charlotte and Emma have decided to run a charity dance camp in Ballina, which is something they are both so excited about. The camp will run from the 6th – 10th July, which also happens to be a great week in Ballina for all the family as the Ballina Salmon Festival will run during this time.

They are doing this camp in aid of The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Every cent raised during this week will go towards the Guide Dogs and the life changing services that they provide. They will also be holding a raffle with some great prizes to be announced in the coming days, these tickets can be purchased in Moore’s Supermarket / Pub (Swinford), Coleman Electronic (Ballina) and at the dance camps or else you can contact the girls through their ECM Dance Facebook page.

The services that The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind provides down in Cork are fantastic, not only for the visually impaired but also for children with autism. They provide so much more than just the guide dogs and assistance dogs. From long and short cane training to independent living courses, there is so much they can do to achieve improved mobility and independence for many people. However, the costs involved in all these services are massive, for example, to train one guide dog alone costs over €38,000.

For this reason Charlotte and Emma would like to raise as much money as possible and would be grateful if you could please support their Ballina camp and Raffle. For more information on the camp itself or to book please contact Charlotte on 087 6560159 or on the ECM Dance Facebook page.
