County Champions

2015 Swinford Killasser U14 Team – Treble Champions

Swinford Killasser U14s Are County A Champions

Swinford Killasser Ladies U14 girls completed a remarkable Treble on Monday last when they defeated Westport in the County Championship A Final. Winning this final makes the girls County Division 1, County A Championship & Connacht Division 1 Feile Champions for 2015.

This County Final was played in bright sunshine in Parke. And, although Swinford Killasser went on to win comfortably; the end result could not have been predicted in a tight opening quarter. Both teams exchanged points early on, and Swinford Killasser lead by three to two, when they were reduced to fourteen players mid-way through the half. The ten minutes of this sin binning was probably the defining period of this Final. Rather than dropping their heads, the Swinford Killasser girls dug deep and really worked for each other. This work was rewarded when Maeve Gallagher crashed home a cracking goal in the twentieth minute.

And, when they returned to fifteen players Swinford Killasser pushed further ahead before the break. Westport rallied in the opening stages of the second half to narrow the gap. But, a move involving all three O’Neill sisters mid-way through brought any hopes of a come back to a shuddering halt. Eimear O’Neill finished this move to the back of the net; and Swinford Killasser could start celebrating.

Winning one title in your footballing career is the ambition of most players. The U14 girls of Swinford Killasser are in dream territory, by winning three major Titles in two months. Orla Mullaney again collected the Cup on behalf of her team mates, and Chloe Moore deservedly won the Player of the Match Award. And with good reason, this group of wonderful friends celebrated together as 2015 County A Champions.

County Minor A Championship Finalists

Well done to our Minor team who have reached another County A Championship Final; after a magnificent win over Knockmore at Swinford Amenity Park yesterday. Our Minors will play Moy Davitts on Sunday evening in the Division 1 League, before taking on Castlebar in the County Final on Saturday week.

Ciara plays in Croke Park

Best of luck to Swinford Killasser U12 star Ciara Forkan, who will play in the half time exhibition game during the Mayo v Dublin semi-final on Saturday. This will be Ciaras second time to play on the hallowed turf, as she previously represented Swinford Killasser U10s during the 2013 Ladies All Ireland Final. Not bad for an eleven year old. Enjoy the experience Ciara.

County U16 Championship

Having won the U16 League, Swinford Killasser hope to continue our winning streak when we play The Neale away in the opening round of the Championship on Monday September 7th.

County U12 Finals Day

Both of our U12 teams will compete in the County Finals Day on the weekend of October 3rd. These Finals have been delayed due to the Mayo v Dublin replay. Swinford Killasser Eagles will play Kilmoremoy Arrows in the Division 1 A semi-final & Swinford Killasser Falcons will play Knockmore Avengers in the Division 2 B semi-final.

County U13 League

Swinford Killasser U13s are due to commence our U13 League campaign on Friday September 4th against Kiltimagh. This game will be played at Swinford Amenity Park.

County U10 Blitz
