Swinford Ladies U16

Swinford U16’s Team

This week sees three of our teams compete in the latter stages of their respective County Championships. Our Minors who have made great strides in the League take on Kilmoremoy away on Sunday in the A Championship Quarter Final. Should the girls win this game they will make it a clean sweep of Swinford Killasser teams reaching the last four of all the County A Championships in 2014. The Minor Quarter Final throws in at 12 noon on Sunday in St Muredachs School Pitch, Ballina to begin a hectic week for our Club. On Wednesday last our U16s comprehensively defeated Hollymount in their Quarter Final to set up a meeting with Westport at Swinford Amenity Park this Monday at 6.30 in the County U16 A Championship Semi Final.

This will be the first of two occasions when these sides meet as they have been paired against each other in the U16 Division 1 League Semi Final; also due to be played in the next couple of weeks. Our U14s have already enjoyed a successful season where they reached the Division 1 League Final, the County A Championship Semi Final and the Division 3 League Semi Final. Our U13s enjoyed a cracking start to their campaign as they recorded a big win away to Ballyhaunis on Monday last; the next round in the U13 League takes place away to St Marys on Wednesday at 6.30.

The week comes to a climax on Saturday next when we take on St Brigids in the County Intermediate Championship Final at 4pm in Foxford. This young intermediate team is bidding to win the Championship for only the second time in the Clubs history; which would be an astounding fete for such a young team to top off an already successful season in which they have retained Division 1 status in the Senior League.

Good luck to all the girls on their quest for silverware, and also Good Luck to all who are commencing college or receiving Junior Cert results this week.
