Swinford Killassers Aoife Leads Mayo to U14 Connacht Title

Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC has once again enjoyed a proud day as our players represented Mayo with distinction. Our own Mayo U14 Captain, Aoife O’Neill, led her county team to win the Connacht Title today in Ballinlough. Aoife was joined on Mayos Connacht Championship winning team by Siobhan Hennigan, Alanagh Durkin and Aoifes sister Grainne O’Neill; making Swinford Killasser the best represented Club on the winner’s team. All four Swinford Killasser girls have done their Club and their families proud today, as they played pivotal roles in Mayos victory over Leitrim. After the Final the winner’s trophy was presented to Aoife by Connacht Council Chairman, Liam Costigan.

And, together with the rest of their club mates, Swinford Killasser Ladies GFC U14s are also enjoying a very successful season so far. In Division 1 we have all but qualified for the County Semi-final with three games to spare, while we have also proven to be competitive in Division 3 against other Clubs A teams. Well done to each and every girl on our U14 panel. Along with looking forward to the rest of the season within Mayo, Swinford Killassers U14s will play in the Connacht Feile on Saturday June 27^th.

Well done also to our U12 players on their two great wins during the week; against St Marys and Kiltimagh. We have now qualified for Division 1 of the County League. To provide football for the large number of girls at this age we will now be entering a second team in Division 3 of the County League. Both teams will play their first games in this League on Monday June 1^st. We are also playing in the Connacht U11 Blitz this Saturday.
